Goddamn I love living in Minnesota and I love hanging out with Minnesotans and the way they talk is just so goddamn wonderful. It’s like music to me. I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather live. Also, don’t check back in January. Also, damn this place is great.

I live within walking distance of the Minnesota State Fair. I can usually tell how busy it’s going to be based on the on-street parking situation in my neighborhood. This year it’s extra claustrophobic. Relatedly, I am obsessed with tracking attendance numbers. They are SUPER EXCITING so far …

"My piece was inspired by Picasso's Guernica...The patterns near Renee Good and Alex Pretti’s mouths are actually their last words in Morse code: ‘I’m not mad at you,’ and ‘Are you okay?’” -Jennifer Nelson (quoted in the linked booklet, alongside other extraordinary pieces)

I think everyone should see this incredible picture of Dolly Parton: it’s by Stacie Williams (asterosperma on Instagram) and it’s called The Queen of Appalachia
Rest in peace, Dolly. You could have died a billionaire but you lived as a good person
This woman was pure light. Devastated my daughter never saw her in concert. Forever grateful I did. 🤍 www.billboard.com/lists/dolly-...

MNDOT digital sign on 35W northbound heading into downtown Mpls reads something like “Going to the cottage? Slow down in work zones.” Did they hire someone from Michigan to rage bait us? WTH?
Asking first, and listening for real, is the closest thing to magic that we have, and I think we should damn well use it

You know what we don't talk enough about? Queen & Annie Lennox/David Bowie rehearsing 'Under Pressure' in 1992. So much going on! Everyone's clothes, Bowie with a lit cig throughout, where Annie PROPER GOES FOR IT, George Michael singing along in the background. The amazing vocals. Yes, please!
