Domestic violence expert here - these kinds of excuses are a dime a dozen with abusers. They attempt to weaponize anything a victim tries to do to normalize life as “proof” the abuse didn’t happen. It only works with people who don’t understand how domestic violence works.

“Personal lives.” This tells you everything about how Johnson views women and children. These allegations amount to criminal assaults, but since he sees women as property he considers it “personal” instead of a matter for public sanction.
