This filmsky 📽️ is very English English. I've been thinking about Madhuri these days (as I do). can't wait to read Usha Iyer's book on dancing women in Hindi cinema because there's a whole chapter on her in it. I adore this duet/danceoff of two heroines (are they, you know..?) What are your faves?

How much has media changed over the decades? NATIONAL SCREW, December, 1976 issue. Dali interview, Wally Wood comics, anti-apartheid parody, Harlan Ellison fiction... (not pictured: gauzy softcore porn shots and healthy bushels of 70s pubic hair)

Illustrating a graphic novel about my childhood gives me the opportunity to portray the unhinged way I used to draw, knees on the floor and using a chair seat as a desk, and yes I had a cat that would hang out with me by sleeping on my back.

Sketched panel from the upcoming graphic novel REEL LOVE. A twelve-year-old girl looks up from sketching with paper and pencil in the seat of a chair, the girl's knees on the floor. A cat loafs on her back.

What's a great scent that's come your way recently? Last week, my mum cut a gondhoraj lime in half and the entire kitchen was fragrant. I never knew a citrusy, light scent could also be sooo rich and layered. Regular lemons smell synthetic in comparison.

*puts on glasses* technically, all toads are frogs, so they're also covered. ("True toads", the Bufonidae, are part of the frog family, and some are colloquially called "frogs". Some "toads" are not "true toads". And then there's Pseudobufo, the false toad, which is a true toad.)

Chal now that I'm here y'all will have to get used to some #sincereposting. I like this place because I like the internet to be a place where I connect with strange people who share my interests, or some who don't, but who are funny and through whom I get interested in new things.

I had a good, long weekend. Three of my nieces and I got star/celestial bodies-themed tattoos together, it was very special and made me think a lot about chosen families 😭 i also got to see the sea, which is very beloved to me. And then I was reunited with my dog, Peanut.

Photo taken on a beach in which four people have arranged themselves to show tattoos on their bodies (one each) all in one frame. I have my back to the camera and I'm wearing a red strappy top with a white fish print. On my left shoulder blade, there is a tattoo of a nebula with stars. One person extends their arm from the left and there is a small crescent moon tattoo on their inside upper arm. Another extends their arm from the right, forming an X with the other person whose arm is extended, and there is a small sun tattoo on their outer upper arm, just above their elbow. The person taking the photo adds their inner forearm and hand to the frame- the former has a small sun tattoo with a line of dots and stars extending above and below it, and a semicircular mehendi design on the left side of their palm. In the background one can see the sand and the tide of the beach. On the bottom right there is a date stamp (07/01/2023) as this photo was taken on a digital camera. I am standing on a beach, wearing a flared red top with a white fish print, grey pants rolled up to the knee, and my leather chappals in my hand. I am looking at the photographer and smiling widely. The photo is almost half sand, half blue sky, with small and large white clouds scattered all across it. Behind me there are many other people on the beach and in the distant horizon, there are lots of shops. I am wearing a red kurta and lying on a bed next to my dog, who is lying on her side. I am looking up at the camera and smiling. My dog is white all over with brown ears and brown patches around her eyes. She looks to the side (as she's lying on her side) and one of her little teeth is visibly jutting out of her mouth.
