Baltimore's finest professional anteater. Formerly a member of the Borg. Flying the PhillieDrone flag.

Why does Mattingly insist on constantly warming up everyone in the bullpen every game. Can his son explain to him that we don’t do that anymore? I don’t care if it is the one that is the GM or the teenage one.

There's a cruel irony that every player in the organization—and probably every staffer in the warehouse too—is subject to performance-based metrics assessments that determine their worth solely by data, except for the GM and his own staff, who are never dispensable no matter how many times they fail

.@kylegoon.bsky.social asked Mike Elias why the fans should believe in him to lead the Orioles out of this current mire. "Baseball is very, very humbling and it doesn't go linearly," Elias said. Elias' answer, below:

you’re saying the seat is too nasty to touch your ass, but also that you have contempt for anyone who has to use the toilet after you. it’s so hateful

even with all the bad stuff that’s happened for basically my entire adult life, nothing puts a dent in my sense of optimism like someone just pissing all over a public toilet seat and leaving it like that. except maybe the people who leave the ring of toilet paper around the seat

The more the Dodgers spendover the cap, the more cheap small market teams get in revenue sharing. Ask yourself why it isn't out there on the field. Also ask yourselfhow bad competitive blame can be when almost every team is still in the race.

Remember, MLB wants you to be mad at the Dodgers for getting all the good players so you'll support a lockout and a salary cap that only benefits the owners of clubs that didn't want to pay the money YOU spend on baseball for players to play on YOUR team

they also don't understand the dichotomy between mental health (something about which we all have to care) and mental illness (which requires intervention across different modalities, e.g. meds, psychotherapy, and skills-based therapy)

so many people also fundamentally misunderstand both the mechanism and the reality of psychiatric suffering. they think it's just being sad or anxious because of definable triggers. they don't understand the feeling of being in total freefall in ways that are beyond their control

MLB is going to absolutely use this to justify this to justify shitty things and the Brewers ownership will rally owners to their cause to the sport worse because they are cheap assholes who want to ruin this all to save a rounding error in their fortunes
