I'm not sure folks have realized just how crazy the second half of 2026 and 2027 will be for global temperatures – on the back of a record-smashing El Niño event. Here is my latest estimate of where both years will end up compared to global temperatures since 1850.

I took my kid to an urgent care clinic with a gnarly cut to his head. They said it needed stitches and they didn’t do that there. So we went to the children’s hospital emergency dept. They said it didn’t need stitches and put some glue on it. It didn’t fill me with confidence in urgent care clinics.

‘Robbing Peter to pay Paul’: Urgent care clinics failing to relieve pressure on hospitals, say doctors

Frontline health workers say taxpayers are funding an expensive system that leaves emergency departments overrun and regular GPs struggling.

Under a Binface government, anyone who doesn’t accept human-made climate change as fact will be sent back to school, from Year 1 right the way to A Levels, to see if anything goes in the second time round. #VoteBinface

This is so good. It's the norm for every other human-influenced catastrophe and should be the norm for climate! - Centres human choice to burn fossil fuels - Uses images that depict the reality of heat disasters rather than imagined fun - Doesn't bury either down in the 15th paragraph

Person cooling off under mist from an opened fire hydrant on a city sidewalk, tilting their head back to catch water — illustrating people seeking relief during an extreme, climate-driven heat wave.

Heat and humidity as severe, prolonged and far-reaching as this week’s would have been “virtually impossible” in the Northeast and eastern Canada before humans began warming the planet, a team of scientists said on Friday.

Without Climate Change, U.S. Heat Wave Called ‘Virtually Impossible’
Scientists have said the conditions are the result of a climate that is “fundamentally different” from the time before fossil fuel use started rapidly warming the world.

Last minute but if you can plz make the time to send a submission to the senate inquiry into AI + Data centres before Friday using this guide, that would be immensely helpful in staving off the tech-bro-pocalypse a little longer thankyou good evening and good night www.foe.org.au/ai_datacentr...

We cannot be spectators in this fight and let these grifters take hold because the two old parties have done nothing. I've spent a decade taking on One Nation and their racist politics of fear, in parliament, in the streets and in the courts. I'm not done fighting.

How's this for a feedback loop? Ice sheets build up lowering sea level → reduced water load leads to increased mid ocean ridge volcanism after a 10-20 kyr lag → volcanism releases iron → iron causes plankton blooms → atmospheric CO₂ goes down → ice sheets build up www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Ocean iron fertilization from enhanced mid-ocean-ridge volcanism due to ice-age sea-level falls - Nature Geoscience

Increased hydrothermal iron inputs from mid-ocean ridges, triggered by ice-age sea-level falls, supported higher surface primary productivity during the last two glacial terminations, according to pro...

New: Researchers have quantified how easy AI search is to manipulate. Just 13 words buried in a random Reddit comment can poison AI search results. They suggest this is not easy to stop: "The way you can attack these systems is so much dumber than you think it is" www.404media.co/it-is-trivia...

It Is Trivially Easy to Use Reddit to Manipulate AI Search, Research Suggests

"We show that a tiny snippet—just 13 words—of retrieved text on a UGC website like Reddit, Wikipedia, Quora, or Facebook can change AI agents to output spam / scam content pretty consistently."
