ICE CREAM MAN is hot (er, frozen) garbage; a pitiful gore-first midnighter with amateurish execution. Go watch Cooties or The Children instead if you want your "kids murdering adults" fix, two movies Eli Roth so desperately wants to be in conversation with.

Review: ICE CREAM MAN Won't Satisfy Your Horror Sweet Tooth - Daily Dead

When you hear Eli Roth’s name, what title comes to mind first? Cabin Fever; Hostel; The Green Inferno; Thanksgiving? Everyone’s flavor of exploitation cinema is different, and Roth’s sampled them all....

HER PRIVATE HELL is an intoxicating and elusive return to feature films for Nicolas Winding Refn—a filmmaker I have my struggles with. Not this time. Looks like I'm the HER PRIVATE HELL defender. It's rightfully divisive, but I got swept up in Refn's fever-dreamy neon sorta-slasher.

PINOCCHIO UNSTRUNG is legitimately good, and I'm just as surprised as you are. It's giving Seed of Chucky/Chucky (the TV show) vibes with a folkloric twist. A shockingly tender blend of whimsy and gore that's worth hearty laughs, plus rad puppetry!

Warped Tour is two days away, and it's rad that they revealed the bands playing each day, but damn, it's almost more nerve-racking because I can already predict the overlaps that are gonna break my heart.

Just when I thought the Twisted Childhood Universe—aka Poohniverse—couldn't get any worse, it didn't. It got better. Like, way better. PINOCCHIO UNSTRUNG is a legitimately funny and brutally bloody adaptation that has tons of fun warping Pinocchio's desire to become a real boy. I cackled so much.

Sat down and watched IT'S ALIVE (1974) for an article, and what a delight. Did not expect to be so moved by a mutant baby flick. Larry Cohen really nails the tragedy at hand. I also watched the 2009 remake, which positively stinks. Was not expecting a "stealth" anti-abortion twist? What a mess.
