DEAD HEAT (1988): It's a very silly premise, done with extreme silliness, for about an hour or so. THEN, suddenly, director Mark Goldblatt decides he's going to channel the spirit of frequent collaborator James Cameron, and the whole thing kicks into this wildly stylized extra gear. What a picture.

It's a pretty neat trick: buy news companies, enact a bunch of policies that erode public trust in journalism, then point to eroded public trust in journalism as evidence that you need to buy more news companies.

Caught two screenings in theaters back-to-back today: SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY and HADESTOWN: THE MUSICAL. And I cried during both of them, because this is who I am now, I'm someone who cries during movies, it's what I do.
HADESTOWN: THE MUSICAL (2026): Can a Broadway proshot be your favorite movie of the year? I guess we’ll find out.
SPIDER-MAN: BRAND NEW DAY (2026): It’s probably not a coincidence that the two best MCU movies of the 2020s feature a showdown between characters and their memories. Holland puts in some serious effort here; lowkey might be the best work of his career.
SOULM8TE (2026): I know that Kate Dolan has talked a lot about this being an homage to ‘90s erotic thrillers, but it really, really is — straight down to the giant warehouse apartment à la FATAL ATTRACTION. And I think that’ll give this real legs (pun intended) with a certain flavor of genre fan.

From what I've seen from the Mariners community, it sounds like Kirby is unlikely to resign, and moving him while he still has team control means maximizing our return while also clearing room for some of our minor league arms to join the team in 2027. Or maybe I'm just getting high on copium.
