We are one of 7 countries in Europe yet to ban this practice. But we'll go further by increasing subsidies to greyhound racing to €19.8 million this year. The fund has existed for 23 years. All three of the big parties support this squander but each has a few objectors.

It's good to see Scotland moving ahead with a bill to ban Greyhound racing. Greyhound racing is a cruel bloodsport that leads to unnecessary suffering, exploits animals for profit, and should also be banned in Northern Ireland once and for all. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
