A Professor can be hounded to death by the media for alleged plagiarism but tech companies can plagiarise on a worldwide scale and they’re left alone, celebrated for their “genius”…

shorter NCTE message: we want to get rid of all the infrastructure that costs money and carries any political risk, BUT we will take your membership money. For what? Isn't it exciting that we don't know?!!!

Feels like a good time to share my most recent (open access!) publication: “many [participants] see state DEI bans as a warning shot of sorts, a preface to the larger project of dismantling higher education.” publicationsncte.org/content/jour...

Imagine the conversation we could have about this travesty if NCTE didn’t require Cs officers and executive committee members to sign confidentiality agreements. Folks should also ask NCTE about how and whether their lucrative grant/partnership with Google was part of what Cs “culture” threatened.

The Cs was a place where precarious academic workers could dream of a better higher ed, as well as make it. Adjuncts and community college faculty were especially welcomed rather than just being stigmatized for where/how they taught. I loved hearing people’s 4Cs report backs!

College writing instruction is one of the places where academic labor exploitation is very high, and at the same time these same academic workers are at the front lines of the literacy crisis and are also the most committed to a truly inclusive university.

The CCCCs organization is the center of our discipline. Absolutely horrible decision by NCTE with no consideration or care for the community or anyone who has put their work into the organization, an org that is needed more than ever.

A couple hours ago, I woke up to messages about CCCC being dissolved and absorbed into NCTE's College Section. I don't know what this means for the 2027 conference, but I do know it'll be different, if it's held at all.

I think (??) Tressie McMillan Cottom used the phrase "beneath analysis" for some of the bs happening right now in the AI space. And that's how I feel about data center discourse these days. It's cartoonishly evil and extractive -- and it's like what more can be said?
