This persecution of Fauci is unacceptable. 7.1 million people died of Covid-19 since it jumped to humans. Dozens of viruses out there also have potential to jump anytime and cause similar deaths. Nobody will be willing or able to fight them. Thanks Rand Paul and RFK jr. wapo.st/3TAPlAj

Look, a lot of people are clowning on Adam O'Neal for taking a job for which he wasn't qualified in service of helping a billionaire curry favor with an autocrat, using his position to build an unpopular and facile video series and then bailing on the role in barely over a year.

It made me so proud of the research teams I've been a part of over the past decade, but it also prompted reflection on my academic path (🧵1/5)

Two Science Magazine cover images side by side. On the left, a vertical array of carnivore jaws with the title "A key tooth". On the right, a rendering of Central America from space with the title "Biotic Bridge".

how in the space of a week do both frontier labs go 'oops we forgot to unplug it from internet first' -- in violation of basic security practices, and yet this story will somehow be remembered forever history as a landmark 'advance in AI' that rendered human security experts irrelevant...
