I love when when a follow I’ve been on the fence about finally reposts something absolutely fucking indefensible. I was trying to tell myself you were really smart so I should hear you out where we disagree but NOPE! you’re about as deep as the kiddie pool and I’m finally free to unfollow!

she/her • Georgia, US Hashtag enthusiast. Mouthy spinster. Cursed to regret everything I’ve ever posted, but tragically unable to shut up.
I recently heard the “people in countries w/socialized medicine wait MONTHS for an appt” crap again. 1. I’ve waited MONTHS for an appt under the US system, *while* paying through the nose for the privilege. 2. Surely wait times are more about dr shortages than healthcare administration(?)
Update: turns out it was supposed to be a reminder rather than a meeting, so it was one of those where the organizer never joins, and everyone else comes on-screen looking bleary-eyed and irritated, going, “Was this *supposed* to be a meeting, or…?”
I’ve made multiple donations to the ACLU over the years but now they have the audacity to say they “can’t do anything about” someone sending me a 9am meeting invite?!?

Is there a version of YouTube that filters out all the people doing personal dissertations nobody asked for?
So ridiculously excited about this. I love Discounty so much. I wish I had a copy of the music that plays during deals with Barbara so I could blast it to intimidate my foes during meetings 📈👩💼📉
Good news, shoppers! 🔔 It's almost time. The free 'People or Profit?' expansion is coming to all platforms on ✨️ August 6! ✨️
I recently purchased an office chair. It was a 3-week internet odyssey during which I was endlessly tossed between very obviously fake reviews and a few hundred psychos with Princess & The Pea Disorder. It successfully sucked all the fun and excitement out of a li’l treat splurge.
Not really disagreeing, but a related factor is the research/decision fatigue if you do decide quality/longevity is worth the cost. I do it for kitchen equipment etc; quickly run out of spoons/finances to do it for clothing.
People who’ve never had a cat: Cats are low-maintenance and easy. You can basically just get a cat and forget about it. Me: *on all fours at 1am, trying to blot the pink tissue paper dye out of my bedroom carpet, whining “I love you buddy but WWHHHHYYYY? I was almost asleep!”*
So I have one of those cats who likes to put his toys in the water bowl? And he found some tissue paper I was holding onto for the next niece’s bday? So he dragged it into the water bowl? And apparently the dye in that stuff is water soluble? And now I have pink spots on my carpet.

The only thing we have to fear is the rapid decline of everything
LRT: I’m not making any assertions about the median UK voter, but I do love those Fry & Laurie vox pops bits
Median UK voter in 2026, as predicted by Hugh Laurie some decades ago:
Say what you will, but a former VP saying all this is on the table is a good Overton dragger. Normalize changing this country.
Kamala Harris: I know this is going to be controversial coming from me in particular, we need to revisit the electoral college. We need to revisit the point of expanding the court. We need to revisit, if they so want, statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C.
I’m not sure whether this is just a psychological difference or AI bros fundamentally don’t understand the nature of an artistic experience, but: I don’t want a personalised film/book/podcast. I want to see/read/hear the same one as everyone else, so I can read reviews or discuss it with my friends
stop paying for AI, I'll tell you lies and make you go insane for free
New from 404 Media: Google Earth has introduced an AI feature that lets anyone fabricate completely bullshit satellite images. In our own tests, we added a “bomb blast and crater” to an area of Los Angeles. This is a misinformation time bomb, will 100% be abused www.404media.co/google-earth...
I’m sure it’s a me problem, but I get the WORST secondhand embarrassment when people make Being Hot and/or Being Horny their whole personality. When every post is “here’s a pic of me being hot” or “omg I had all the sex last night”, I want to cringe myself inside out.
In a @talkingpointsmemo.com interview a few years ago, the founder of @bookshop.org said: "Some things don't need to be disrupted." He was talking about the human shape of bookstores. GenAI is being marketed as a tool for disrupting the human shape of many things that don't need to be disrupted.
it’s legitimately fucking offensive to me as a taxpayer that this entire administration is run by people whose only goal in life is to be on television
Someone posted this in slack and I actually thought it was The Onion. www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...
The logical endpoint of no longer even having the option to do this
just in case you wondered how graham is doing lol
I don't want a "Smart Fridge" that orders milk for me. I want a fridge that lasts 25 years and doesn't have a privacy policy that allows it to share my late-night snacking habits with my health insurance provider.
Basically we're always at this part of the movie.
can't get over how well the free market regulates itself
The GOP’s SHAMELESS abuse of Lindsey Graham’s death is hilarious. People who wouldn’t have given him the time of day popping up everywhere like “Lindsey was a dear, dear friend. Not many people know his last words were that people should give me, personally, more money & power. What a guy!”
Every single night… *turns out light, closes eyes* [sound of a cat being weird somewhere in the house] … [sound gets weirder] None of my business! I’m going to sleep! … [SOUND INTENSIFIES] Ugh FINE! *turns light back on gets out of bed to investigate*
Gotta shut down the factory that makes this kinda guy
