This is a historic milestone for working people in the South. Congratulations to the Volkswagen workers and our @uaw.org family on ratifying their first union contract. Better pay, healthcare cost reductions, job security and more — it’s #BetterInAUnion!

In a historic vote, Tennessee Volkswagen workers get their first union contract

Two years ago, the successful union drive at this plant was expected to spark victories throughout the South. But now, as members vote to make their contract official, momentum has fizzled.

This is the thing the cultural commodity spectacle of Super Bowl Sunday requires we bracket: the sport is predicated on human sacrifice. The players you watch today are being killed in front you, slowly, whether it looks like it or not. And the NFL can only get away with it because *we* watch.

no matter how hard you twist and turn to justify it, tackle football will never be an ethical form of commodity spectacle

from a thread about whether or not capitalism will "trump" racism. my 2 cents: mistakes here stem from a two very different orientations one can have: 1) capital is a key constraint on/enabler of political developments vs. 2) changes in capital *are* the (real) political developments

I honestly don’t get the value of this company. They hoover up energy and water. Their product constantly gets things wrong and, in extreme cases, coaches people into suicide. And it’s all built on what seems to be malicious and vast intellectual property theft. What does OpenAI offer the world?
