my theory why tech bros have gone insane is that tech optimism was their fuel for awhile. that began to fade as the future was looking less utopian and was obviously always about getting infinite money. when the public began to turn on big tech, tech turned to reactionary ideology to fill the void
i don't particularly disagree with a lot of the critiques of anarchist activism by liberals but I bristle when they act as if their best practices are any wiser. we're here because none of us figured out how to avoid being here. everyone should have some goddamn humility.

i read a piece in the atlantic that went into detail about how local organizers helped people figure out and coordinate what they can do based on level of danger and time commitment and it really is a solid model

It wasn’t about just going out in streets for rallying purposes. People had a mission: videos, whistles, information and communication flow to communities. They had something to do.

Whenever I see posts from people warning not to watch videos of state sanctioned murders, see instructions on how to avoid the clips, I understand and sympathize with the reasons for it, but I keep thinking "pretty soon you may not have the choice to opt out of having to see the violence"

The subtext in JD Vance asking for "patience" on the economy: When leaders stop talking about current conditions and jump straight to rosy forecasts, they’re signaling the present isn’t defensible. That’s your cue to scrutinize the numbers, not just the narrative.
