The Irish fans won't be able to watch Ireland vs Israel in the stadium, a game that shouldn't even be held given that Israel should have been banned from Football. Instead, the Irish are punished for pointing out the Genocide...
After 4 months of PRs, Rust now has a complete I/O module in alloc, and most of one in core. Hopefully a stabilization PR could even be accepted before the end of the year, who knows! doc.rust-lang.org/nightly/allo...

Zero clue who that person is, but I'm still glad Maggy is in s box
Sad to see people posting on social media negatively about Rod Liddle, who died yesterday. If I have disagreed with you very strongly in life - and you die - I hope I'll be either silent, or kind.
Knowing our struggles are just a short period of history, makes me feel better on facing life www.elias.sh/posts/nature...

Nos EUA a diarreia é explosiva pq tudo tem que ser meio bélico
Wow, the Argentina President may be the stupidest person on earth. On a planet with Trump!
"Milei “disse que quer…permitir que empresas sejam administradas por máquinas” e também “anunciou um programa de ‘gêmeo digital social’, que usaria dados públicos de cidadãos para criar simulações destinadas a orientar políticas públicas...” Peter e Open AI estão atuando forte na política Argentina.
A better name for ai agents would be puppets as you should manipulate them
Golang is a language whose only real ideology is "programmers are stupid". Which is a very boring thesis statement. pretty much every language i've used has had something more interesting to say about programming.
Golang. What a language. How do you take an integer N number of seconds and convert it to a Duration? That's right! Create a Duration representing N nanoseconds(??) and then multiply it(???) by the constant Duration time.Second. pkg.go.dev/time#pkg-con...
Over and over the cycle repeats: Bad tech do bad thing Politicians: make bad tech not to bad thing? Companies: no bad thing make money Politicians: ah okay keep doing bad thing just add more spy
The new CHATBOT Act doesn’t just require parental permission for teens to use AI. It requires AI companies to build monitoring systems that store and analyze entire conversations, creating new privacy risks for entire families. www.eff.org/deeplinks/2...
I truly feel for kids growing up now who will have to unlearn using AI, but if you've been writing for more than 2 years it is the easiest thing in the world to just Keep Doing The Thing You Did and ignore AI tools!! It makes me feel crazy that people act like this isn't the case!!!
it's actually sad as hell to use AI for research when research is the fun part. you can just email people and call them on the phone and ask them questions about the thing that they have expertise in. you can read documents & learn cool shit. ok now i'm just talking about how being a reporter is fun
Very surprising given that Japan is still living in the 90's. I cannot imagine people only buying digital goods here

How to speed up the Rust compiler in July 2026
My last post on the Rust compiler’s performance was in December 2025. Let’s see what has happened since then.

It turns out that if you put a String in an Error type of the Result for a hot function, say, deserializing 125k f32s, making that Error type 24 bytes instead of 1 will make your entire deserialization process 15% slower. I might put serde custom error support behind an opt-in flag for postcard v2.
just felt very strongly that everyone needed to see this up close
"A US government map of Africa mislabeled every country during a state department presentation at a global conference in Brazil this week, causing a stir among attenders who took screenshots and posted them online."

So evil government and evil company are to blame? Who would have guessed. And by evil government I am not saying Trump but rather the USA government as an institution since it's racist foundation
reminder that the "anthropic are shredding books because they're evil" story is ~disinformation, because the book shredding is as far as anyone can tell *required by US copyright law* and not, in fact, something anthropic chose to do because they're evil.
