"Overlong production cycles and exponential budget increases are worsened every time a studio is forced to reassemble its detonated workflow to account for the institutional knowledge lost whenever a dev is cut loose."
New from me: "Being engaged in videogames over the last decade has meant watching a cohort of publisher executives inherit an industry of products, professionals, and consumers they seem to actively resent for failing to produce instant, infinite profits."
It’s weird that they are framing this as sensible grown up politics when thanks to climate change caused extreme weather has killed thousands of people across Europe this summer and millions of people across North America can’t go outside
Deeply irresponsible. We're in a climate crisis. This is such a terrible start. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Couldn't sleep until I finished The Incident At Galley House tonight. Ended up staying up way too late. Totally worth it. Fantastic game. If you've any appreciation for investigation mysteries like Return of the Obra Dinn or Case of the Golden Idol, you NEED to play this one next. Go in blind.

Insane how quickly my brain is getting used to the climate new normal. In the 2022 heatwave it was a huge deal for me to experience 33°C for the first time, I cancelled plans, the day is seared in my memory Today it's 32°C and it's just a normal day for me.
Extremely niche post here, but at THE most iconic ultramarathon of the race calendar (Western States 100) two nonbinary runners got 2nd and 3rd place 🥹 It's such a scary time to be an openly queer athlete, so proud of them both ♥️
Right now the world is full of people who want to code and write and paint and film stuff and people who want to play and read and look at and watch stuff and nobody is allowed to do any of that because some unrelated third guy isn't making enough money off the deal
Our games industry is people. Our studios are people. Our teams people, our games by people for people. Our games are made by people, in groups of people, in teams of people, making people things for people. The magic is people, and the people deserve so much better than all this. I am so sorry.
60% drop in reviews if people even smell AI on your game - full supports the investors, developers, and publishers that took a hard "no gen-AI" stance, despite grifters' proclamations that they were "going to be left behind".
Someone actually crunched the numbers, and using GenAI can decrease reviews for indie game on Steam (a useful proxy stat for sales) by as much as *58%* 🤖

This is great. Here's @owenjones.bsky.social basically doing the WKUK bit on TV, but about how in the UK you can't legally say you support the group Palestine Action.
Thank you for the 600k+ wishlists! We cannot wait for you to experience the supernatural mysteries of Grave Seasons! 🔮 Check out our new devlog as well that talks about some of our decisions for the Day and Night cycle in our game! 💜

How have I reached the age of 30 without having watched Sunshine (2007) before. How have none of my friends said "hey Elliott you should watch Danny Boyle's sci fi film Sunshine". They've all betrayed me
Evidence from Australia six months after implementing its "total ban" on young people accessing social media indicated that SEVENTY PERCENT of young people were evading it. SEVENTY PERCENT. www.abc.net.au/news/2026-06...
all online age verification does is teach kids to be a little bit more computer literate to circumvent it so who's to say if it's good or bad
Has the government considered how much more cool going on the internet will be for kids when it's a crime?
My gentle push back to "no one is going to buy your game" is that for art to live it must be seen, so is it so wrong to want an audience? Much of the joy of art comes from sharing it with others, seeing their reactions, having a community respond to it Every artist an island would be a tragedy!
I wrote a manifesto for making games, and (not) selling them, for #manifestojam illomens.itch.io/no-one-is-go...

Genuinely feels like the UK media is trying to gaslight us. A granny holding a Palestine Action placard is a terrorist on a hate march. Violent racists burning people's homes and terrorising people of colour are protestors with valid concerns.
The UK government wants you to know that two of these images are "understandable disorder", one of these is "the rules-based order", and one of them is "terrorism". Please follow the instructions carefully, or face consequences.
