Heatwaves reaching the upper thermal limits of mammals Poor lions, poor residents of Tokyo And yes, we should be worried and yes we know what to collectively do
“Three female lions died of suspected heatstroke at Tokyo's Tama Zoo, the first heat-related deaths among the facility's lion population in its 62-year history. The lions, aged 3, 11 and 15 and all born in the zoo, showed signs of severe dehydration and multiple organ failure in post-mortem exams”

Update: Google just sent me a statement saying it is “rolling back” this AI feature that let anyone make completely bullshit satellite images. Comes after our demos of the tool and those from OSINT researchers. One of the worst AI tools I’ve ever seen bsky.app/profile/jose...
New from 404 Media: Google Earth has introduced an AI feature that lets anyone fabricate completely bullshit satellite images. In our own tests, we added a “bomb blast and crater” to an area of Los Angeles. This is a misinformation time bomb, will 100% be abused www.404media.co/google-earth...
Can someone explain to me why we don't talk about generative engine optimization more? Is it not terrifyingly obvious that once AI has become normalized as the everything answer bot, our entire information environment is going to become a battlefield for stuff like this?
Israel is giving Trump's former campaign manager millions of dollars to fill the internet with pro-Israel articles written by AI, not so that anyone will actually read them, but so that *LLMs will train on them* & regurgitate their perspective. This is the future of the information environment.
The car attack on the Berlin Pride event has been designated a mass casualty event.
Google (GOOGL) Free Cash Flow goes negative for the first time in history. They’re spending too much on data centers, and search revenues came in below expectations
For NBC News, I spoke with the mother of Corey Ruiz's 13-year-old daughter, Marjorie Ann Aliomar.
I’m not going to take her picture because I’m normal, but there’s an older woman sitting near me at this coffee shop using a magnifying glass to read her iPad and it is so sweet
Hope to see you at this event next month!

Proposed nickel mine near Cloquet MN is a high risk water contaminate into the Mississippi Watershed, and would likely be providing raw material primarily to Tesla for battery manufacturing. Many reasons to oppose this, but I’m currently going with the don’t support anything that supports Musk.

Are you sure you want to endorse countries paying climate damages sir
Trump on Canada: “They should pay us some damages or something”
It was good to see @jchavezmpls.bsky.social and @elliottpayne.org at yesterday’s Trans Refuge State rally yesterday. I’m grateful for elected officials who stand up for our trans friends and neighbors here in Minnesota – we need more like them ❤️
Cheryl Reeve is a fucking real one. We need more leaders in the WNBA like her.
NEW: Aurora Police say an ICE detention center employee shot a protester last night. She is expected to survive. 42-year-old Brandon Booth, who works for the ICE contractor GEO Group, is being held on suspicion of attempted second degree murder and other charges.
I'm getting really sick of seeing rapists just get to promote rape on TV and in the government day in and day out with no consequences or truly any reaction at all at this point
Casually threatening mass rapes
What if…radio, but with a screen and visuals? Yeah, that’s TELEVISION. Please just go produce your TV show and let podcasters focus on storytelling and listeners focus on the story or report. Untether listeners from the screen.
It’s fine for some, but I’m not thrilled about the big push at the moment to have more and more podcasts do video. I like podcasts specifically because they are NOT visual…
There's now basically 2 types of podcasts: ones you subscribe to and listen to whole episodes of (not watching video even if it's available bc you're probably commuting, doing chores, etc.), and ones you don't subscribe to but regularly see video clips of on IG/TikTok.
