After Georgia Dems flipped the House and Governor’s mansion, Senate Dems held a press conference on Wednesday and were asked: “how are Democrats planning to work with Republicans?” I responded, you’re asking the wrong question. The question now is: how are Republicans planning to work with us?

Q: I’m told that Vivek Ramaswamy left you a congratulatory phone call. Have the two of you spoken? Governor-elect Amy Acton: We can’t normalize behavior like this. It was so beyond the pale, so no, I have no intention of speaking to him. Leaders’ words matter and we need to hold folks accountable.

My kid is often the first trans person someone has ever met, and they often find out she’s trans after knowing her for a bit. I have watched people realize, in real time, that they’ve been an ignorant asshole, and I’ve seen it FAR more than the opposite. If we put muscle behind this it WOULD work

like, put mamdani and aoc out there chatting with trans athletes and people who are transitioning about how it transforms their lives. we have trans legislators now; put them in front of a camera. idk. put some money behind it.

Whiteboard in the library at UMass asks if the library should have an “AI Makerspace” and the students’ “NO” answers are off the charts. They hate this so very much. I’ve never seen a whiteboard in the library this fired up.

Mamdani taught Democrats what to do when they win. Not keep trying to make the right happy. Not pass watered down legislation to appeal to "everyone." Not give in to moneyed interests. Do stuff that helps people. Quickly.

Mitigating and preventing damage means holding people causing said damage accountable by making sure they experience consequences for their illegal actions via the full application of the law. There's no moving on without holding people accountable. Hope this helps, Dem establishment.

All this talk of "getting even" or payback or whatever. It's not "getting even". It's enforcing the law. Say that. Correct that. Don't fall into that trap. There's absolutely no reason to.

I got into repro because of Texas's sonogram law in 2011. I've been working in repro ever since, and it has felt like a battle for the soul of Texas. Whole Woman's Health v. Hellerstedt. The Wendy Davis filibuster. That was 10 years ago. And people in Texas just kept fighting. Look what y'all did.

So by all means, make your opinion heard now. And better yet, do it collectively, and directed at your own new representatives and senators. They have a million voices in their ears right now - consultants, donors, pollsters, lobbyists. Be loudest voice.

You will see consultant-driven politicians saying dumb shit. Those are trial balloons. They are watching to see if they get praise, criticism, or shrugs. It is now very important to take the momentum we've built and actively define the contours of what is politically possible. Make this win count.

Y'all this was not just a Dem "win." This was an era defining political earthquake. That means a lot of politicos are suddenly uncertain of the ground under their feet. They too are trying to figure out this surprising new world. It's movement's job to define what is and is no longer acceptable.
