I have not seen Evil Dead Burn which seems to be a lot of what this is about, but as someone who absolutely loves movies that feel at least 25% evil, there's absolutely catharsis in watching the absolute worst happen in a purely fictional context. I don't think you have to be-- (cont'ed below)

To me, as someone who doesn’t enjoy that type of film generally, it feels almost lazy and reliant of shock value versus good storytelling. I’m genuinely curious though, if it’s something you seek out, why?

I saw a post where someone made the connection that a company laying you off right after your product comes out is pretty much stealing your wages from you and, yeah. They’re double dipping, getting all the profit and not having to pay for the team that generated it.
