But most people are incapable of understanding how computers really work and thus personally aren’t able to do much with them. But it feels like the first time ever that computers have been tools for their own creation. This moment feels like the Big Bang to them. daringfireball.net/linked/2026/...

As a postscript, I feel obliged to mention that cracking the Morph involved disassembling a Windows binary, and that I don't know shit about how to do that. As conflicted as I am about AI, part of my wonder here is how it can help us recover what's slipping away, instead of recycling what isn't.

I guess Eco would be pleased about this antilibrary of a poor guy, i even have his Pendulum, Rose and his essays in "Apocalyptic and Integrated" on over-critical and over-naive perspectives on popculture. Unread only is the apocalyptics, which makes it more valuable then. Eco man, still the best.

After Friday's soft-launch, its time to formally put this new project out into the wild. The digital reboot of my 'The Seinfeld Chronicles' project is a detailed exploration of the trends and patterns of the laughter, character-usage, and locations of Seinfeld. visualisingdata.com/2026/06/new-...

I'm gonna keep a small diary of my reverse engineering work in this thread. Basically, I'm finding obsolete, poorly documented, and/or poorly supported sensing devices, and getting them to produce legible open data for my Creative Coding and Experimental Capture students.

On a reverse-engineering streak, and pleased to present many new additions to my archive of monoline fonts —including 40+ decompiled AutoCAD SHX fonts; the Tektronix 7000-series oscilloscope display fonts; and Glen Kleinschmidt's Fourier Synthesis Character Generator. github.com/golanlevin/p...

Yesterday marked the 100th anniversary of the birth of Miles Davis. A little over a decade ago, Mark's passion for jazz developed into one of our all-time favorite projects: Scaled in Miles.

A close up shot of our Scaled in Miles poster zoomed into a cluster of recording sessions between Miles and Kenny Clarke.

Also, it was really fucking exciting being on the Web when the Web was brand spanking new, we had coffee cams and sites dedicated to spatulas and all of it was amazing

Last year's shutdown of @glitch.com was a huge blow to my pedagogy. Glitch was ideal for creative coding classes and workshops. I looked around for alternatives. But there was nothing that was open, decentralized, and not at the mercy of VCs or Big Tech. So I built my own. Here's Glitchlet.

The workbench of Glitchlet, showing a file panel, a code panel, and a preview panel.
