Oregon has set a record for the worst fire season in history, with 2m acres burned, and 2 months before the return of fall rains. Climate change is here. It looks like scorched forests, fires that encroach on major cities, & lost commerce and recreation. My video report from smoke fouled Portland
An iconic Oregon WWII-era bomber plane is being restored in a Salem airport hangar with the hope it’ll reach the sky again in a decade.https://www.salemreporter.com/2026/08/05/volunteers-work-to-make-salems-lacey-lady-bomber-plane-reach-the-skies-again/
this should get so much more attention — two states within 3 weeks have made major moves on rights restoration.
A combined 100,000+ people with past felony convictions have either already gained or will soon gain voting rights in Missouri and Virginia, which both have elections today. More: boltsmag.org/gop-run-miss... boltsmag.org/virginia-gov...
I know and understand why Michigan's Senate race is the big one tonight... but there are 40+ elections I'm watching as I detail in that guide! Don't miss them.
a PSA for election watchers tonight: I'm traveling on vacation, & will not be live posting or commenting results as they come in as I usually do — but I’ll be sure to overview in the morning!
Republican power grabs in Kansas and Missouri are going down in flames with 18-25% of votes reported so far. Missouri's Amendment 4 aimed to make citizen-initiated constitutional amendments practically impossible. Kansas' Amendment 1 was designed to flip the state Supreme Court to ban abortion
The Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty made an enormous difference. It entered into force in 1970. President John F. Kennedy thought we might have 25-30 nuclear weapons states by the 1980s. We now have 9.
Miller is like a walking K-Tel record titled "Golden Classics of Domestic Violence." Track 1: "She's Crazy!" Track 2: "Those Lying Bitches" Track 3: "Parental Alienation Blues" Track 4: "Where's My Due Process?" Track 5: "Actually, She Abused Me" Track 6: "It Takes Two to Tango"
MAX MILLER: She's 2.5 years old. She doesn't have the ability to articulate what you just said. TAPPER: But you just told me that she said she was scared to go to mommy's house. Now you're saying she's not capable of saying "Daddy kill you"? MILLER: What about due process?
Fun fact: The last time a Cabinet pick failed on the Senate floor was 1989. John Tower. No Cabinet pick has been defeated on the Senate floor in Susan Collins’ nearly 30 years as a senator.
Sounds like a Criminal Minds serial killer of the weak plot point.
This just might be the most psychotic act of sexual harassment I’ve ever seen. Not the worst per se, or most menacing but in terms of sheer insanity it’s really up there.
“read the article darth” they said “it will be fun” they said
Oh my god the dietician who is telling everyone in the White House to only eat steak and sauerkraut doesn't wipe his ass.
Whoever advised Max Miller to go on to Jake Tapper’s show secretly hates him. What a catastrophic interview
Yep. Earlier this year I was interviewed by Sharyn Alfonsi of 60 Minutes about my Epstein investigation. Subsequently, CBS pulled the segment and fired the reporter. The MAGA buyout of media is aiding the Trump administration’s Epstein cover up.
Banks permitted millions in suspicious transactions tied to Epstein—and former 60 Minutes correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi had the story months ago. But the report would never air. trib.al/ZShZlIS

My air purifier with its new filter can’t keep up with the wildfire smoke indoors here in Salem. No escape for those who have to work outdoors, the air is poison 24/7.
Ash on the car windows this morning in Salem.
A tip from a community member who saw a nervous-looking man bent by the side of the road near some grass initially led authorities to the suspect, according to the Spokane County Sheriff. The man had matches and a butane lighter on him when he was detained.

The front page of this morning’s Spokesman-Review, Aug. 2, 2026, the day after one of the worst wildfires in Washington state history. More than 600 structures, mostly homes, have been lost in the #OldTrailsFire. Read local news.
I secured a long-term supply of abortion medication, strengthened our shield law so out-of-state prosecutors can’t subpoena doctors and nurses, and backfilled funding when Planned Parenthood lost federal support. Whatever happens in D.C. or in court, reproductive care in Oregon isn’t going anywhere.
Other states are watching reproductive health care clinics close their doors and providers get dragged into court for simply doing their jobs. Oregon isn’t one of them.

DOWNTOWN TRAFFIC: Semi-truck crash spills grain onto S. Harbor Drive in downtown Portland, closing Harbor Drive and SW Naito Monday afternoon.
Another Naito closure, this time for a grain spill at the south end of downtown. Or at least possibly Naito? Unclear. PF&R says the Naito/Harbor intersection is closed due to debris on road but the photos they posted show the crash around the corner on Harbor. www.kgw.com/article/traf...
