The fact the director looks like Jeremy Renner's sweet younger brother tracks completely. They Will Kill You is one of the best movies not enough folks saw this year. Went STUPIDLY hard and made a couple of my favourite choices so far this year. www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...

Oh no, that excellent article on The Wolves of Willoughby Chase, means I’ve bought the first two “Wolves” books and Midnight is a Place. I was OBSESSED with Aiken’s work as a child, especially her volumes of short stories. Definitely an improvement on reading Rowling’s work 👍🏻

ppl have already forgotten about @bphillipsonmp.bsky.social’s breakfast clubs. her legacy is just going to be her bigoted social policies and what will be a very long line of ppl that are harmed as a consequence of her bullshit.

@bphillipsonmp.bsky.social is going to get ppl beaten up, raped, and killed that's ultimately going to be her legacy it won't be labour remembered for this. it'll be her bridget's bathroom bill nobody is going to remember breakfast clubs. they're just going to remember her segregation laws

Andy Burnham is now the man with the dubious honour of running the most anti-trans, anti-queer, explicitly anti-LGBT government since Starmer. And before that it was only Thatcher who was as bad. And it's because his government wants the discrimination, just not to be tagged with it.

What we need in the UK is a trivial amendment to the equality act that says for the purposes of discrimination due to sex, trans women are to be treated as women and trans men are to be treated as men with the exception of their continued right to accessing pregnancy protections.

In the USA, the Supreme Court is much more powerful. They can go "the constitution forbids this law on these grounds" and congress has to go find a different route to their goal. In the UK they can just go "as written, this law means this." Government can then make whatever new law they want.

Reminder for all watching the Labour party go "well, we have to enforce segregation of trans people, the law's the law" The UK is not the USA. Parliament is sovereign and Labour have a thumping big majority; they could, trivially, amend the equality act to end this. They are choosing not to.
