Hyde Park, Boston. Newly a BPS mom! Cancer survivor. Fan of safe streets, science, sanity. Mad as hell.

Just ran into an elderly neighbor, who has dementia, wandering in the dark in the pouring rain. Took her to her friend's house. So glad I happened to be out walking the dog at just the right moment. If it looks like someone need help--ask, if you can. We need to take care of each other. 😕

I genuinely believe most people are kind and helpful--when they are able. But right now, most people have barely enough capacity for themselves and their families. I worry that as things get tougher, few will still have the capacity to look out for others. Which makes everything worse. What then?

I guess the only real option is to keep being kind and looking out for others, whenever possible. And hopefully that makes capacity for THEM to do the same, down the line. (So, so grateful to the neighbor's friend--whose doorstep we turned up on, so late!--for caring for her.)

<EASTIE> Report of an 8yo pedestrian struck/clipped by a car on Border St near Maverick St. BFD on scene noted no visible injuries, BPD peeled off from Italian Heritage Parade nearby to assist and said she’s conscious & alert and being evaluated in an ambulance #337pm

Stop ordering things through apps! Go talk to the person who makes your coffee! Make a phone call! Make a list with a pen and honest to god paper! Stop using a computer to mimic what human hands can do! It can’t go on like this. It just can’t.

The more you dive into Question 3, the worse it gets. Example: Question 3 would effectively allow any SuperPAC to get its endorsements printed on the ballot. What problem is being solved by that? Billionaires not having enough ability to lie about the candiadtes they support?

Not discussed enough about question 3: any group of at least 50 people can get their endorsement advertised on the ballot. $$$ buys front groups with deceptive names. The effect of jungle primaries in a blue state seems counterintuitive, but these endorsement groups are such a disastrous idea.

I'd like to strongly recommend that @bilottafordistrict2.com , @worc-indivisible.bsky.social , and NAACP New England reconsider their endorsement of yes on question 3. 🙏🙏 It is a mechanism for rich people to buy outcomes in our elections. I don't think this is what any of you actually want.

This kind of vehicular violence, regardless the underlying cause, fills me with rage. Too many people in Boston have been killed by drivers this year, and it's 100% preventable. I'm participating in the #WeekWithoutDriving because this is not ok, I'm not ok, and we're not ok.

Police say one person is dead and two others are injured, after a car struck a building on the Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital medical campus on Oct. 1.  Listen live to WBZ NewsRadio: ul.ink/2RHG8A

I'm astounded that the Boston Public Schools is still pushing forward with their "AI Ambassadors" program that pays students and staff to act as tech evangelists in the district. When your education policy aligns with Linda McMahon's, you are gravely off-course.

There are so many tragic things this administration has done on so many levels, but putting Linda McMahon in charge of the Department of Education still shocks me whenever I think about it. Especially at this moment, with the AI companies trying to get their hooks into schools.

I left @massgovernor.bsky.social a voicemail on Friday, and plan to also email my other elected officials about this exceedingly bad idea. Gas tax cuts don't get fully reach the consumer, and the only thing that can bring prices down, without increased supply, is reduced demand.

Elle@biknmusicmama.bsky.social · 2w ago

Mass folks, take a moment to ask Healey to NOT cut the gas tax!! Spend that money on transit, an e-bike subsidy, quick build bike and pedestrian projects! www.mass.gov/info-details...

Made this because I'm still pissed about how dangerous it is to ride my bike on Cambridge St. We are now 2 months out from promises that were clearly not kept.

I tell people that most television production is unglamorous. In the ~25 years I’ve spent in the business, I can count on one hand the truly boast-worthy moments. Reading sides with Bryan Cranston, spending a day with David Ortiz, and now going BEHIND the CURTAIN at Ron’s 20th Century Bowling!
