"The Banner is hoping for an increase in Black representation on Beacon Hill, but this does not ensure that and we are also concerned about the motives of the private equity executives that are backing this change. More Black legislators beholdened to them would not be progress."

No all-party primaries - Vote no on 3

On #mapoli Q3, the Coalition for a Stealthy Oligarchy is dominating the Testosterone Derby. Of 59 individual donations over $50,000, 57 are from men, most in high finance. The top 5 have kicked in over $3,000,000. mauricecunningham153.substack.com/p/massachuse...

Massachusetts Oligarchs Continue Pouring Money into Ballot Question 3

The Committee for a Healthy Oligarchy’s Somerset Club Campaign Is Going Swimmingly

Am finishing up my decisions on the ballot questions. One I am certain on is NO on Question 3. Unless you want private equity to determine who we choose for our top two candidates for election, of course. Then, have at it.

The current electoral system is bad, but the top-two primary has been even worse in California and Washington. The majority party risks getting shut out of the general election when it has too many primary candidates, so party elites often pick favorites in contested primaries to avoid that outcome

A new UMass Amherst poll shows Massachusetts voters passing Question 3 to adopt the top-two “primary” by 49-39. But that’s much smaller than the 51-32 lead they found in August. A September poll from MassINC showed it passing by 43-36

I urge every Massachusetts voter to reject Question 3. The top-two primary system makes victory for progressive candidates impossible in many cases (especially statewide). Signed, a Californian who also once lived in Washington state.

"...Diagnosis and treatment are two different things, and we’re skeptical that this initiative would actually cure the relevant ills." Don’t let private equity billionaires sell us this false solution. Vote NO on 3 on 11/3!

No on Question 3
"Increasing electoral competition and decreasing party influence are laudable goals, but it's not clear that moving to an all-party primary would achieve those aims."

for Q3: • private equity and venture capital execs • Jake Auchincloss and Seth Moulton, the two worst MA representatives • Charlie Baker against Q3: • Progressive Mass • Ayanna Pressley • Ed Markey as I've said before, even if I knew nothing else but who's on which side, that'd be enough. No on 3!

First in @wbur.org's Mass. Politics newsletter: Just a few hours after former Gov. Charlie Baker endorsed Question 3, Rep. Ayanna Pressley came out against the all-party primary ballot question: www.wbur.org/news/massach...

Hey Mass Voters: vote no on 3, all party/jungle primaries. If we want new ideas in office, we need ranked choice voting, not this. An all party *reduces* candidate options to ensure wins (bad). Also it’s for corporations to buy candidates. No thanks! #mapoli #NoOn3 www.votenoon3mass.com/voteno

If Q3 passes then rich Republicans would be able to: - Fund more Democrats to run and split the vote - Bribe Republicans (beyond the top 2) to drop out With the goal of splitting the D vote and forcing two unpopular Republicans as the only two choices in the general election.

"A top-two system expands the power of wealthy interests in general elections...That’s exactly why those wealthy interests are pushing for it: in Massachusetts, more than 60% of the money raised to pass Question 3 has come from just five private equity executives." @workingfamilies.org
