All conservatives on this issue: "How dare you judge me on the content of my character for judging you on the color of your skin!"
“America is an incredibly rich country with an enormous and growing pool of wealth spread across a huge middle and upper class” really shouldn’t be a controversial viewpoint. It’s very hard to talk sensibly about policy problems and solutions if we can’t acknowledge this base-level fact.
driving is a clear example of social construction of crime, ~cops and media ignoring the rich hurting the poor most online US leftists, especially credentialed ones, identify as drivers. They frame cops as opponents, instead of their allies in maintaining car dominance over lower status non-drivers
A lot of the contemporary left is understanding that sometimes a well meaning compliment can constitute an offensive statement to someone of a minority group but also economic policy enacted with a pure heart will always achieve its goals
for a final time I would like to cordially invite Seth Moulton to kiss my entire ass
At his campaign’s watch party, Representative Seth Moulton briefly took the stage to concede the Senate Democratic primary and told supporters that he called US Senator Ed Markey “to congratulate him on his victory.” Follow more live updates: trib.al/dv1TH2f
Vending machines that fill old newstand slots are coming to the NYC subway. Seems like a very good thing for riders. www.fastcompany.com/91597330/nyc...
These automated vending machines are moving into NYC's subway newsstands
They're a more financially sustainable way to dispense the grab-and-go items commuters rely on.

This (from Tom Wood) suggests more than just the typical thermostatic backlash is happening right now. In sixteen months, Trump and Republicans have turned the GOP’s largest party ID advantage this century into a tie for its biggest deficit
Fuck that noise. Google is making a statement by changing it so quickly, and you're naive by pretending it's neutral.

Not to worry, Ben-Gvir is a fringe figure who does not represent anyone or have any say or anything, he is only the commander of the entire police and prison system in Israel.
Ben Gvir posted this video on twitter today which shows fat and happy Palestinians on a conveyer built going through the Israeli "prison" (torture camp) system and coming out emaciated and maudlin. This is textbook genocidal content.
These people's first priority is causing damage to the USA. Damaging allies is an afterthought. They prioritize treachery above avoiding accountability. Much of what they do is illegal, more of it will be made illegal soon. They are not sneaky enough and leave paper trails everywhere.
One little piece of hope that I’m holding onto as I watch an inconceivably thorough embarrassment of American power in the Persian Gulf is that the people in the military aren’t stupid and know who put them in this mess, and they’re going to remember these freaks as the enemy domestically
Why do centrist dumbasses keep trying to primary Ed Markey
As usual, the Centrist Messaging Geniuses have come up with a message that pleases literally no one.
Trump, empowered by SCOTUS, entered office convinced he could do insider trading, sell pardons and favors, take bribes, steal and openly flout the law. Now, with the prospect of investigations looming, he is growing ever more fearful that he miscalculated.
If you give ground on one marginalized group, you stand for nothing and will shrug off others. Not acceptable.
Standing up for the smallest of minorities is important because when you accept the premise that one group are expendable because small or ‘insignificant’, you have accepted the idea of the expendability of human life in general, and the enemy will use your acquiescence to pick off yet more.
how is a cooling failure in one datacenter causing a global outage of all Proton services? (actual question)
The anticipatory schadenfreude that helmet-scolders publicly display when someone dares to say that helmet mandates make bikeshares impractical... is so sick. You're no less cruel than the SUV chodes who lay on their horn when I bike on residential streets bsky.app/profile/umbe...
I mean, go for it. See you at the hospital.
I wear a helmet 99% of the time. They can reduce the odds of concussions and certain injuries and will deter people from blaming me if I get hit. I think it's smart to wear one. But countries with low helmet use have a lower rate of death— because 15 other things are more effective safety measures.
and i think it's worth interrogating why the thing that would increase safety while putting a significant burden on cyclists is considered common-sense while the thing that would do the same for drivers is considered an absurd non-starter. way more motorists die every year than cyclists!
The United States is taking aim at Canada once again, with a crushing new set of tariffs. Ultimately, government will need to solve this. But in the same way Canadians are avoiding US alcohol, produce, and other goods, they should get off US tech products too. Luckily, I have a guide for that.
Getting off US tech: a guide
I’m in the process of dropping US tech services. Here’s how I did it, and options you should consider.

Great Migration is probably intimately tied to the rise and spread of NiMBYism
Hi 👋🏾 Canada, America hasn't changed. It's merely doing in the daylight what they used to do on dark rural roads when I was a child to tween in Jim Crow Texas. It's just happening to white people to, nowadays 😞
Carney: We’ve been under no illusions. We recognized from the start that America has changed
If people thought that the 14th Amendment— 1954 Wally Kilbler opining from the safety of Canada: what constitution are you referring to in the South?— was worthless because Jim Crow existed for decades in authoritarian enclaves of the South, where would we be?
What constitution are you referencing? You live in a dictatorship now!
Yes. "Rurality" is for many Americans just a costume they put on! bsky.app/profile/mike...
Patriotic Americans have an obligation to stand with our country. Which means standing with Canada and our other G7 allies.
On the one hand, I shouldn't wish my country ill. On the other hand, Canada's grandfathers bled with my grandfathers fighting the Nazis. When we were attacked on 9/11, we asked Canada to send their sons and they bled with our troops in Afghanistan. To betray that bond - we'll deserve what we get.
Trump is not just the worst president, but the worst US citizen of my entire lifetime. A world historical failure of humanity and morality. He and his wicked entourage have burdened us with the task of repairing his damage and eradicating his evil legacy for the rest of our lives.
