SCREEN failed to pass out of committee, despite a 15-13 vote (in favor). Not enough members voting, but looks like a party line vote. Good work everyone! Keep up the pressure for after recess and beyond!

If SCREEN were to pass, you'd be required to scan your face and upload an ID to access this site because it allows "harmful" material. This affects you even if you don't care about sex work or porn.

Shuang Yang—Chang’e 7 will land near the Moon’s south pole Shackleton crater later this year and deploy (via tether) a seismometer that is planned to survive for 8 years. This might be the first node of a long-lived *international* geophysical network! #AOGS2026

A photograph of my notebook showing a sketch of Shuang Yang (Chinese Academy of Science) talk at AOGS. It shows a low, oblique shot of the Chang’e 7 lander, landed on the Moon, as it lowers its seismometers (SP + VBB) to the surface of the Moon from the bottom of the lander. The seismometer will survive up to 8 years through use of an RHU.

I know you guys are probably fatigued from there always being a crisis to care about of this exact nature, but that is literally the point. They are trying to exhaust you and beat you into submission. Please keep caring and calling your reps, when you have the time and energy!

The SCREEN Act is not just another age-verification bill — it goes much further than anything passed at the state-level or in other countries. 1. The bill doesn't just target porn sites. It goes after *any* site that allows material "harmful" to minors. You'd have to scan your face to use Google.

While it certainly wasn't the only factor, collective covid measures followed by a summer of major uprisings are a reminder of how terrified the gentry are of people realizing they can act and work together. They're pushing hard to erase the memory of that entire time period for a reason.

Covid lockdowns demonstrated, in a deeply imperfect way, the possibility of large-scale social solidarity for a higher cause. That is a prime reason why so many powerful people want us to run screaming away from them into the comforting arms of selfish individualist competition.

like idk maybe ask yourself why youre so quick to believe that so many other queer people are dangerous and need to be removed from the public sphere to keep children safe. maybe ask yourself who benefits from that worldview. maybe examine data and facts and reject reactionary "but the CHILDREN" bs

antis are a threat to queer people and have no place in queer spaces if they think its acceptable to "out" queer people as dangerous sexual predators for what kind of fiction they enjoy. and thats why i block them on sight, even if theyd have no problem w the shit im into. they arent safe people.

I'm gonna completely fucking lose it, I've been stuck here for the better part of a year and my best chance to actually sleep somewhere livable is just slipping away bc of shit that's completely beyond my control, it's taking every ounce of willpower I have to not completely crash out here in public

Flan ($79/$200, see pinned)@expandingflan.bsky.social · 6d ago

guess I'm gonna be trapped in this filthy run-down roach-infested shithole of a house until I fucking kill myself

sorry if I didn't have the internet as a teenager I would have killed myself, I can't see anyone saying minors should be banned from online as anything except wanting abuse survivors to die

It's a small detail in the midst of, yknow, all of this, but the A-10 is a perfect encapsulation of all those "how does the US keep losing wars?" articles, well it's because our government (and by extension our military) are run by corrupt idiot hogs who love loud noises and indiscriminate death

it's easy to look at the absurdity of the claims and the obvious falsity of the Satanic Panic but once you look more closely it becomes clear that the Satanic Panic was largely a war against women in the workplace and against confronting how common physical and sexual abuse committed by fathers is

Casey Explosion@caseyexplosion.bsky.social · 2w ago

This is correct in so many ways I do not have the energy to elaborate upon right now, because the satanic panic was far more sinister than you probably know

why is it we can talk about and show depictions of horrific violence openly and freely but as soon as you even slightly mention sex it has to be locked behind as much layers of protection as feasibly possible... surely there is no ulterior motive behind this mindset

the only people who could ever earnestly support means testing are people who've never had to be means tested before. it is a humiliating, dehumanizing bureaucratic hostage negotiation with a system whose primary purpose is to *not* provide financial support as often as humanly possible

The Seattle City Council just voted 6-3 to approve Joy Hollingsworth's amendment to delay universal school lunches for kids, replacing them with vouchers for qualifying low-income parents to buy groceries over school breaks and weekends. Eddie Lin, Alexis Mercedes Rinck, and Rob Saka voted no.
