Trying to get my head on straight, save some money, and get my life together. Pronouns: she/her or ne/nem/nir/nirs/nemself
Trans Char Aznable wouldn't "come out" she would show up somewhere someday as a mysterious blonde beauty named Cinco Benis having already fully transitioned. She'd say something about how the great man Char Aznable has died, how tragic, but humanity must move on. Honestly iconic of her

Normalize telling people, “You’re not a Ravenclaw, you’re 45 years old.”
anyone who is still an enthusiastic harry potter fan in 2026 deserves to be publicly shamed & bullied
The Liberals and Conservatives teamed up again today — funny how that keeps happening — to get Bill C-39 over the hurdle of its first vote. The massive, 243-page bill bulldozes environmental protections, Indigenous rights and attacks the right to strike. Here's what this means:
THIS is where centrism of the Liberal/Labour/Democrat variety gets you: minorities completely unprotected by any major party, and forced to flee for their lives from their homes, not from fascists, but from centrists who adopt the fascist's rhetoric to stay in power.
I know several trans people who have fled the U.K. over the last few years because of its sharp descent into transphobia The most recent is the parent of a trans child - who I have personally known for 10 years - who are uprooting their entire family to move to Australia.
Bluesky rolled out rules against dog-piling but I think we all understood that they meant dogpiling *by* trans people; dogpiling *on* trans people is still allowed and even encouraged.
by all means, AI evangelists: leave me behind, off with you, godspeed, don’t let the door hit you news.berkeley.edu/2026/10/09/u...
Using AI for just 10 minutes erodes your ability to persist at hard things - Berkeley News
A UC Berkeley researcher co-authored a study that raises profound questions about how we interact with artificial intelligence in education — and daily life.

A society that's not certain if trans people should have rights while arguing the fancy algorithms need them is not a right society
This sounds like an exaggeration but they literally believe this. They don't want their children in the proximity of people who can tell them they don't have to live like this.

i pretty frequently say the democratic party needs to be torn down & rebuilt; the fact that party insiders still regard toxic figures like Rahm Emanuel & Lis Smith as the future of the party is proof
“If you don’t like public executions just don’t watch it” says the crowd trying to ban drag shows and books
The best way to clean up that mess is to go back to the JFK Camelot era. Ossoff is a great modern representation of that. I like him a lot. And white people probably flat out adore him.
He's an attractive, competent cishet white man with morals and assertiveness. The political landscape has been bereft of that very thing and white Americans are tired of national (and international) humiliation.
Figuring out why Ossoff is so effective is an interesting task. I think he's mastering a kind of stern dignity that is uniquely compelling in contrast to the clownish cruelty of the other side. I think the other person who's kind of hit on the same thing is AOC, though in a different register
This is something that I've been mulling about in my head now. It sure looks like AI is currently sucking all the oxygen out of the room, investment wise. I'm not sure you even *can* get a venture investment unless your startup is AI. In a sense, the AI depression is already happening.
‘If AI doesn’t deliver on its promise then we face a double blow to growth: because AI didn’t expand our productive capacity as hoped, and because other investments which might have didn’t take place.’ www.ft.com/content/bf40...
There is a direct line from Newsom and Buttigieg running around the country a year ago saying "we have some concerns about trans people" to Democrats openly using anti-trans slurs in campaign ads today. It's why we pushed back so hard then. We knew where it would lead. And we know where this goes.
Hey Oregonians, how come y'all don't have a NHL team in #Portland? I was talking with my friends tonight, how the #NHL won't expand to Quebec City or Halifax because those markets are too small, too Canadian, and there are already a lot of eastern teams. But Portland is big, American, and west. #PDX
A “Community Shrine” invites visitors to leave a photo of a deceased loved one. Below it sits a wooden chair with a sign: “Reserved. In memory of the millions of lives lost to genocide & violence by ICE & inhumane immigration policies.” No one is allowed to sit there.

As always with this administration, the cruelty is the point. They believe the cruelty makes them brave, makes them strong, and have no idea that it actually marks them as cowards and cravens.
Pete Hegseth says Americans will be able to watch a Trump-approved firing-squad execution. If he follows through, the U.S. could join a disturbing club of countries known for public executions—including Iran, Afghanistan, and North Korea.
Remember, everyone, this isn't happening. No matter how much it increases every day. Democrats are not campaigning against trans people. It's not happening.
I do find it kind of hilarious that BlueSky hired a comms guy and then apparently he evaporated, and then the head of T&S openly resents that comms made it hard for him to flame out on main It really suggests a healthy organizational culture!
the reason “AI will create so much abundance we will have a utopian society” rhetoric falls so flat is that the people building it will never, ever share their bounty unless it is taken from them and we all know it

You know JD, if you ban foreigners on student visas, you'd ban your buddy Elon's original entry (a visa which he incidentally violated by dropping out of college to be a fucking loser mooching off of Americans who work for a living).
Vance: "Some of America's most elite universities bring in foreigners to undercut wages of American residents. There are 9 universities in particular we believe merit an investigation. Those are Harvard, Yale, Stanford, Brown, the University of Pittsburg, UC Davis, Cal Tech, Arizona State, and MIT."
