This is not “revisionist,” which implies new evidence has been found, which might change the historical narrative. These are LIES. Lies. No truth in it

Can't believe these Ivory Tower academics left merely because the American government decided it should arbitrarily revoke research funding and visas, dictate what scholars publish & teach, and send students & assistants to concentration camps.
More brain drain: “Twenty-one universities in Canada announced on Thursday the hiring of dozens of researchers to join their top academic ranks, poaching the majority of the recruits from the United States. Of the incoming 64 researchers, 48 will leave American campuses…”

There are jobs for college instructors. They do require degrees. But the pay and the benefits are abysmal. Another take on the state of the academy:
Adjuncting Until the End of Time
Universities now have more adjuncts than tenured and tenure-track professors combined. The conditions are unsustainable—for professors and students alike.

This makes me laugh and cry. The partying was so, so real.
kids today are literally confused about whether "partying" was real or an urban legend
The one thing I can still take refuge in is John Bonham's drum performance on "Dazed and Confused." Let me have this one thing, world!
“Nothing flies well in this wet night heat: not moths, not fat gold June bugs, not / bullets, not owls, not souls.” I miss Jennifer Martelli’s presence in the poetry world / the world. This is the first book I’ve read for the #sealeychallenge. And now I want to write all the poems.

17 years ago today, the federal minimum wage was increased to $7.25—17 years ago! That was last time we had a federal minimum wage increase. It's past time we change that.

"The focus on housing affordability, however, ignores the issue of housing quality. These are not two separate issues, but rather, two sides of the same coin... [low-income famlies] rent or buy homes that are so deteriorated, that they have become “affordable.” progressive.org/op-eds/the-h...
Any Steinbeck scholars out there? I found this and was bummed at its implications. One of the most memorable lines for me from 'Travels with Charley' has always been “You got to be awful rich to dress as bad as you do"--supposedly from JS's handyman. But 'East of Eden' came out ten years earlier...
All war is a symptom of man’s failure as a thinking animal. -- Steinbeck

Police murdered a Black man in the street in Madison WI today. Shot point blank in the head while on the ground, tased, and surrounded by four cops. It looks like an execution. Multiple videos circulating online. Things are about to get very bad here.

Can't get numb to this: The United States is stuck in a war it started, cannot end, and may further escalate to no avail, having dismantled its diplomatic apparatus, depleted its military stockpile, and destroyed its credibility. A historic strategic mistake harming millions in many different ways.

Nobody talks about how we're all paying $15 for sandwiches now and just pretending that's normal. Five years ago that same sandwich was $8. The price doubled and the only explanation we got was "supply chain issues" which apparently means "forever."
