On Thursday I wrote about the 2014 injunction Russell Brand obtained against a woman who accused him of assault. I've now obtained the final order. It's breathtaking. She had no lawyer. No trial. Yet she was silenced for life - even barred from speaking to the police. 🧵:

Russell Brand's barrister has reported himself to his professional regulator after allegedly confronting a journalist outside court shortly after Brand had been found guilty of rape. The journalist said she was 'surprised to be confronted and spoken to in that way'. jrnl.ie/7218331

Let me tell you about Russell Brand, as someone who helped the journalists who eventually exposed him. In 2013/4, Brand started to become interested in progressive politics. He said progressive things publicly, went on Newsnight etc. At the time I was involved in progressive grassroots work myself.

I don’t usually post videos of Oireachtas contributions, but this one is worth the extra minute to watch through. The Govt has announced a plan to address a failure to give children timely clinical assessment of needs- something the Supreme Court has said is a duty- by pretending they aren’t needed

Social Democrats@social-democrats.bsky.social · 2d ago

A new proposal from govt would mean that children won't require an assessment of needs to receive supports in school. Instead, they need to display behaviours that "persistently impact" on achievement, participation and wellbeing. In what world is this the right approach?

DRCC consent ad shows it's a huge risk to tell the State something it doesn't want to hear

The justice minister's assertion that Dublin Rape Crisis Centre's WeConsent campaign 'didn't reflect the views of Government' went almost unnoticed in the storm

The teen who appeared in the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre video has a better understanding of consent that the entire fucking Government and the lead opposition party. But of course nobody asked teens how the video made them feel. Only the bots, the right-wing twittersphere, and older voters #Spéirgorm

Teen actor, 15, in hug ad 'shocked' by backlash as star wants promo back on

THE teenage star of the controversial advert that urges grandparents to get consent before dishing out hugs has called for the promo to be reinstated. Mollie Lou Kelty, 15, said: “In no way were we…

Ireland has some responsibility on this. One of the greatest contributions we could be making to collective EU & global democracy & security (far more useful then disastrous attempts to remove the triple lock) would be having the courage to step up to our role as digital regulator in a serious way.

Lula: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. We cannot have monstrous companies earning millions... not paying taxes... wanting to steer elections."

Jim O'Callaghan has caused these students all this stress and delay. When they have plenty of stress living through a genocide. And he's done it with our money and fought it in the high court with our money. Jim O'Callaghan needs to resign. For this and so much more.

The High Court in Ireland has overturned a decision by the Minister for Justice to refuse a study visa to a Gazan student and ordered that the application be reconsidered.

So much for An Post's reassurance that you'd be able to pick up parcels locally after they centralise the sorting offices. For people who don't have a car, this will be more than a two hour round trip. Join your local campaign to keep your sorting office.

During his surprise appearance at Macklemore's Free Palestine tour, Hozier urged for the approval of visas for 55 students in Gaza who have secured scholarships to study in Ireland, directing the audience to sign an open letter to the government. jrnl.ie/7205779
