i bring a sort of ‘i fear neither pain nor death’ energy to the pedestrian/driver interaction that drivers don’t really like

Odyssey this. Odyssey that. We Odyssey ICE abolished.
Boy it's starting to look out there like the best lack all conviction, while the worst are full of passionate intensity
I'm sorry, why are people crashing out over a <checks notes> eminent Homer scholar who critiqued Nolan's Odyssey? Isn't that, like, what happens when art is created and viewed? Does Nolan even care? What, are you all his mom? Your exceptional boy didn't get an A+?
Go to www.redcrossblood.org to find locations near you! Camberville/Boston has many blood drives going on in August. Do it if you can!

If you can donate, please do. If you were previously not eligible to donate, the criteria have been SERIOUSLY revised: you are no longer deferred for spending time in England/the EU and the sexual risk screening has been replaced with a much more evidence based model.
is it not exhausting writing this article every time a new bike lane goes in?
On Broadway, bike lane debate continues In the densely-populated neighborhood, concerns about accessibility, safety remain....
I have never raced neck-and-neck with a rainstorm the way I did on my ride home today. I was very literally at the leading edge of the rain. Whenever I’d slow down, it would catch up. If I turned, it would catch up. I was going a little too fast for safe city commuting, but what a BLAST 🚲🌧️
Navigating a temporary subway shut-down is worse than the chronic, daily miserable driving conditions? I don't love the term, but this is "carbrained" thinking. You may be in control of your vehicle, but you can't control traffic. The average Boston driver lost 79 hrs sitting in traffic in 2024.
I just don't think it's great that the smoke from wildfires is what saved the Northeast from a "real feel" temp of 103°F today.
Fellow bike riders: if you pass me *on my right* in a painted bike lane, at speed, without announcing your presence-- you fucking suck. Do you really want to be the cyclist that "doored" a fellow rider into the street??
Oh, you MUST scream. I scream a lot. Would-be right hooks, doorings - scream them away. I also POINT at people. I pointed at someone about to left hook me and bellowed "NOOOO!" and they stopped. You SHALL! NOT! PAAAASSS!

I encourage other cyclists to be less hesitant to scream. Especially around here where drivers have their windows down it could save your life.
No - her legacy needs to become action. From you. Now. Of course she will be remembered for all that she did. What about you?
Louisa led programs and improvements that made our streets safer, our communities stronger, and our residents’ daily lives better. Her legacy will endure in the work she advanced across the City, and in the commitment of her colleagues, friends, and fellow advocates to carry it forward.
Ah, finally - the day of the year when me wandering around singing 🎶 "quatro de julio, 4th of July" 🎶 every 5 minutes in a very Bad Bunny voice isn't just annoying, it's *topical* and annoying Cc: @paperbookslove.bsky.social 😁
When I look at heatwave forecasts, I focus on that overnight low, like the shocking 27 C for NYC. "Tropical nights", when temps stayed above 20 C / 68 F, drove much of the mortality during past European heatwaves, and 2021 Pacific NW heat dome. Inability to cool off overnight is the silent killer.
Veteran no/subpar AC haver here, these are all good tips! Don't forget to EAT, that's one that gets me. I lose my appetite in the heat, but low blood sugar + heat is really not good. Put plenty of things to graze on around you! Veggies/hummus, yogurt/granola, charcuterie board, etc.
This will be a thread of tips for people suffering through their first god-awful heat wave with no or subpar AC. I'm a perpetually broke Southern Californian so my ideas run cheap.
Someone left a 60's 3-speed Hercules bike in front of my garage door, like an orphan on a church doorstep. Or like a parasitic cowbird laying its eggs in my nest...
For many years, someone has been using plywood to try to make certain unlevel/muddy bridge transitions on my commute path better. Today, I MET Mysterious Ramp Man 😱 another bike commuter was thanking him as I rolled up - this dude is a CELEB 🤩
I have one earbud in and can't skip songs and fucking "Champagne Supernova" came on the radio playlist, like instantly making me want to die. A little dog on the trail started freaking out like it wanted to kill me and I was like "oh no it can hear my Oasis" 😩
Female bartenders have this uncanny knack for seeming like they’ve lived ten lives before lunch - if the world were run by female bartenders there’d be fewer wars, better stories, and everyone would be hydrated.
