Noctilucent Clouds over Stockholm on 20 July 2026. These Polar Mesospheric Clouds (PMCs) are the highest clouds on Earth at ~80 km altitude. They form from small ice crystals where the water stems from Methane reacting with hydroxyl radicals (OH) + dust particles of unknown origin (micrometeors?)
