Just a reminder that people don’t always realize they were raped in the immediate aftermath. It can take hours, days, months, and even years to realize you were raped, and it doesn’t make it any less true. There are many kinds of responses, including fawning and trying to appease your rapist

you will encounter more opportunities in life to change the batteries on a smoke alarm than you will to run into a burning building and no one gives a shit you changed those batteries but it is still very important and why are you waiting on a burning building, know what i’m saying, it’s a metaphor

ICE has abducted Senegalese WBB player Aminata Seck and won't release her. DHS 'policy' is to provide medical care to prisoners at intake, yet they admit to denying her care for an ACL injury for 1.5 months. The NCAA is letting it happen, despite its predatory recruitment of ICAs. We explain.

ICE has abducted a college athlete. What are the NCAA and universities going to do about it?

Aminata Seck’s detention shows the bargain facing international college athletes: universities eagerly recruit them, but support can disappear when their immigration status becomes precarious.

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

lol my flight got diverted because of a medical emergency and they landed us in reykjavik in the middle of the night and deplaned us and sent us through passport control and then the crew vanished and then british airways sent us links to book an overnight hotel room but for a hotel at heathrow

In my first-year college writing course about AI, I made a chatbot that could help students "stress test" their arguments by providing potential counterarguments. The class was about AI so it made sense to try it. It wasn't bad at the task but when my students saw that it didn't give answers and /1

Researchers from the University of Toronto followed students in 18 Tennessee middle schools for two years, from 2024 to 2026. Almost all the students tried Khanmigo at first. And many tried to get the AI assistant to spit out the answer. But when Khanmigo refused and instead asked questions or offered hints, students largely stopped using it.

“We observe how students actually used the AI tutor, and the answer is: not much,” Philip Oreopoulos and Nina Low, the researchers, wrote in their draft paper, circulated by the National Bureau of Economic Research in August. “Seeking help with one’s own confusion remained a choice, and most students declined it most of the time.”

The Supreme Court blocked the student loan forgiveness despite there being explicit statutory authority for Biden to do it and allowed the Iran War despite an explicit Constitutional prohibition on anyone besides Congress declaring a war.

It gets worse when you remember that the Strait of Hormuz was open before the war started. So we’re spending $40B and people are dying on both sides to return to the status quo from January. Everything is socialism unless it’s money for killing people in pointless forever wars.

I recently finished a book called "Revenge For the Sixties" by Peter Canellos about Supreme Court Justice Sam Alito. But I wanna focus specifically on the book title here, because that's what I believe is going on here, and it even alludes to it in the article 🧵 www.nytimes.com/2026/09/03/b...

I've been tasked to cover data center issues at work recently and I've learned some interesting things about data centers' environmental impacts that I thought I'd share Some really unexpected stuff beyond the energy/water stuff most people know about at this point

I'm a veteran. I know what it costs to send people to war. Bombing people creates MORE resistance. It creates generations of kids even more radicalized than their parents. Our service members put EVERYTHING on the line. They deserve a strategy worthy of that sacrifice.
