This is primarily thanks to Article 127 of the Civil Code, introduced in 2021, which stipulates that virtual property as a legitimate form of inheritance. It doesn't stop game companies from shutting games down ofc, but yes, China is quite advanced when it comes to Gamer Rights™️ (lol)

And that any EULA the companies make you agree to can't override this. In stark contrast to here where we keep finding out companies can take away your digital goods on a whim.
