We just wrapped up something we’re really proud of: 12K hours of learning! This was our 3-week Summer School in Computational Neuroscience, inspired by the Neuromatch. This brought together more than 180 Students, 9 TA's and 14 Mentors for three weeks of intensive learning, projects, and mentoring.

Had a UKRI funded grant proposal rejected at the "AI triage stage". "This AI-based triage was used only to identify approximately 50% of the strongest proposals to take forward to full human review." 🧪 #academicsky

This is where it all started... For students in Iran, this meant losing access to a program that had become an important part of their scientific training and community. So, we asked ourselves: could we build something ourselves? And that’s how the idea for the NeuroCONNECT began!

We have difficult news to share. Neuromatch's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) license renewal, which has allowed us to include participants residing in Iran since 2020, has been denied by the United States Government.

Absolute beta power is different between patients with Parkinson's disease and healthy controls, but not periodic beta power. Turned out what is different between patients and controls is the aperiodic offset and slope. Nice!👏 Lesson from that: always plot the full spectra and actually look at it.

Our works is finally published. In this study, we re-analysed 6 open M/EEG dataset. We found higher beta activity in people Parkinson's compared to age-matched healthy controls, but this differene was not present after subtracting aperiodic activity. Read our work here 👇
