This gets said constantly, but it worth reiterating: Games Workshop being bigger than fishing is important to shout about because you wouldn't know it from government talking points, which are rarely about anything creative or artistic. Growth won't involve fish or steel, it will involve goblins.

When browsing in iOS increasingly more and more websites have been using JavaScript to detect DNS sinkhole blocking and then halting ALL usage of the site. Highly annoying. Upgraded to Wipr2 this morning finally after a decade on Wipr1. Problem sites are no longer a problem. £5 well spent.

Anagach Woods report: A cacophony of Coal Tits. Wrens, Robins, and Chaffinches. Making joyful appearances: Goldcrests, Tree Creepers, and the much appreciated Crested Tits. Back to Leith this afternoon. Until next time, Speyside!

Coffee thought his morning, and question asked without any sort of research before putting it out into the wild wide web: I wonder if there are statistics for how many EVs go into thermal runaway and and up being a large sized BBQ. If there are, I wonder what that % is.

Carrot Weather remains one of my favourite weather apps ever. It also has geographical challenges where it asks you to find landmarks on a map. Pretty fun. Today’s Lake Ontario challenge notes just add to the love.

Lake Ontario
Great Lakes, North America
Lake Ontario is the smallest of the Great Lakes by surface area, sitting along the border between the United States and Canada.
Fun fact: Ontario the province was named after Ontario the lake, not the other way around. So renaming the lake because it sounds too Canadian is not just stupid, it's chronologically stupid.

There's something amazing about being in a peloton of 40+ bikes on the cycle lane heading home. Every driver at the front of a queue of side-street traffic... every person peering out of a bus window... every passer-by gets the message: "Oh wow, yeah, people are using this stuff". Never gets old.

My view travelling home by bike: Loads of people cycling on the South City Way cycle lane on Victoria Road in Govanhill in the Southside of Glasgow, during evening rush hour. A woman in front of me wears an incredibly fetching gold coloured helmet.

The broken paving on the continuous footway at Dalmeny St / Leith Walk has been repaired with tarmac, undermining the whole design. It now looks like pedestrians and cyclists are crossing a road, rather than drivers crossing a continuous footway.

This morning’s coffee thought: There are roasters all over the world that coffee enthusiasts order from to try their beans. Big names. Great roasts. I have tried 8 roasters in Edinburgh, 9 including E. Lothian. The carbon footprint for shipping retail coffee all over the world must be massive.

Went on a 70km gravel/road ride winding our way to Dunbar last night with some friends, then train back. Been a hard summer - illness and life getting in the way of riding. A healing type of ride, with night riding, singletrack, and good vibes. £11 for a fish supper, that included DOUBLE FISH. 🤯

Having this discussion last night with a friend. What happened to the ultra rich just throwing money at infrastructure, civic buildings, parks, bridges, etc. and putting their name on it as a form of forever prestige - instead of hoarding / buying elections. I think about this often.

We’re:
— Redesigning our most dangerous streets.
— Regulating delivery apps.
— Lowering speed limits where children play.
— Upgrading 1,000 intersections every year.
— Cracking down on dangerous drivers and super speeders.
— Improving our street lights.
— Building safe, beautiful public spaces.

No New Yorker should lose their life just trying to get around our city. We refuse to accept preventable tragedy as an inevitable part of living in New York.  That's why we’ve announced more than 100 policies to make our streets safer over the next 10 years.

Copenhagen increased active travel rates from 36% to 62% in fourteen years; it’s taken Edinburgh six years to build then rip out the Braids quiet route and Roseburn path extension to Silverknowes. We’re not just doing badly, we’re stuck in reverse

“Copenhagen reported that 62% of its residents are now commuting to work or school by bike — an increase from 52% in 2015 & 36% in 2012, when the City Council launched a 14-year-plan to improve the quality, safety & comfort of cycling.” #Copenhagen chose. They keep choosing even better every year.

Some of our friends from Japan are visiting and staying with us, and brought me something special. If you’re a pourover geek … you know just how rare it is to have one of these in Europe right now. Hario Alpha Switch Ceramic. Saying I am STOKED to make coffee tomorrow morning is an understatement.

Me holding the beautiful matte ceramic Hario Alpha Switch pourover V60 style immersion brewer over my well loved MCM table. Overhead view of the ceramic pourover half. Beautiful edged markings that allow for the perfect extraction of everything you could ever want from a cup of coffee.

I’m glad that 3 parties: SNP, Labour and Greens have agreed a way forward on Edinburgh #Trams. There is now a way forward on tram to Bioquarter. More work is needed to deliver on the commitment to ensure Granton gets a mass transit connection in the future.

In news not related to anything going on locally: Somehow I got my Legend of Zelda 40th anniversary Switch2 preordered yesterday. Bike fit redial this afternoon. Friends visiting from Japan are bringing me a Hario Switch Alpha Ceramic pourover tomorrow. Arranging MCM Ladderax today. #millennial

#EdinburghTram 🙋 To clarify the headline (as the article explains).. Over 50% of Spokes members do agree with #tram beside #Roseburn path, but over 50% also agree with the Orchard Brae route! Explanation is that 30% are happy with *either* route Over 80% support the principle of north extension

A survey of Spokes members has found majority support for trams on the Roseburn Path. @heraldscotland.bsky.social www.heraldscotland.com/news/2652783...
