On my return - time to start asking questions about progress on Leith Connections P3- Hawthornevale to Seafield. We’ve just seen planning apps for the rest of Western Harbour go in + more transport options are needed W to E as tram suspension has shown + SAFETY = would like to see it finished.
Leith Feeder Ride
@leithfeederride.bsky.social
We organise a feeder ride to Pedal on Parliament each year and post on all things cycling in and around Leith.
#EdTravCyc Beware of motor vehicles either being squeezed through the Tolbooth Wynd vehicle barrier by mounting the footway OR being laboriously turned round and driven back the way they came if they're too wide to sneak through @edinburghcouncil.bsky.social
Building sustainable cities is a long journey. But remember, "journey" means "a day's work" (Old French). Each day's work gets us closer.

This is good news & nessecery progress. Every pedestrian, cyclist, & road user deserves safe movement. Thank you to all Leith residents who signed the petition, gave testimony & campaigned for a safer Easter Road. Now we just need to deliver it... www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/notorio...
Traffic lights approved for notorious Easter Road junction following fatal crash
The move comes after a number of dangerous road incidents including a fatal hit-and-run in June 2022

Large SUVs are so common in streets now. This one is from KIA and is around £79k. It's a 6 seater. Battery pack is a massive 100Kwh. Meanwhile we offer the UA at £6.5k with 545Wh battery. Only one can get you through city traffic! 😆 @sw20.info @banzaiedinburgh.bsky.social @portyenergy.bsky.social
Looks a bit like the charts showing the uptick in cycle traffic on Leith Walk by @edtiss.bsky.social – imagine this on a city-scale!
This is what it feels like for cyclists using cycle infrastructure in many parts of the UK (certainly in my area - East Dunbartonshire). A short section here, a small bit there. Completely unconnected. Takes you nowhere. Surrounded by roads that feel hostile. This is why more people don't cycle.
Closing soon! You’ve got until 8 July to share your views on our proposals to revitalise the main streets in #Craigmillar and #Niddrie. Please register your views by taking part in the survey at consultationhub.edinburgh.gov.uk/sfc/craigmil....

Active travel in Edinburgh is facing significant setbacks. City Scope has been updated with the latest timeline changes from Edinburgh Council, with delays across the board since February.
June Critical Mass coming up this Saturday! Besides supporting the Powderhall Line campaign the ride will finish at the Edinburgh Climate Festival. Amongst various activities you could win a Bike repair by cycling to power the stage! See the full program here: www.edinburghclimatefestival.com
Here is the planned route for the June ride coming up on Saturday 27th. Meet at 2pm by the Compass on Middle Meadow Walk. #Edinburgh #cycling #EdCriticalMass
Storing private property in the street - As he always does, mild-mannered cartoonist @davewalker.bsky.social nails it:
The finished bit of Argyle Street is looking very good indeed.
Still not working @jackrmcaldwell.bsky.social how are folk still able to park like this?
Elm Row still isn’t working as it should — unfinished works are causing confusion for everyone using it. LCCC is working with WELM and Cllr Jack Caldwell to press the Council for progress on safety, parking and the missing sculptures. Some fixes are due this month — we’ll share updates soon.
An SNP minister has said a disused rail line in Edinburgh must be converted into a public pathway 'sooner rather than later'

The capital's bike hire scheme is currently the most successful in Europe, in terms of the trips per vehicle per day. The rental e-bikes were introducedin the city in September last year, with just 50 bikes spread throughout 39 parking locations. Eight months on, and there are now over 800 bikes in 200 locations in Edinburgh, with plans in place to expand the scheme further.

Some heroes don't wear capes
just saw a video of a guy running after a bus he missed and then another guy passing by in a cargo bike told him to hop in the front basket and the they passed the bus and the cyclist dropped the dude at the next stop 😭😭😭 www.instagram.com/reel/DXzdVAX...
