It’s a direct attack on rule of law from the highest levels, aimed at permanently ending US Constitutional democracy and imposing a dictatorship. Always has been. Anyone who tries treating it as something else—as if they’re dealing with mistaken impressions rather than lies—gets egg on their face.

A quick word on Taco Bell: That's where we found the suspected lettuce, and it's not bc Taco Bell is gross. It's bc Taco Bell is REALLY GOOD at tracing product! Keeping track of exactly where they got their ingredients, & exactly what restaurants each shipment of ingredients went to!

My own mom speculates that the Somali immigrants in Minnesota are demon possessed as a way to justify expelling them from the country. She says this to her scientist son without a trace of embarrassment. She hasn't missed a vote in 50 years. There are millions of her.

To understand America in 2026 you have to understand that the biggest force in politics is a group of people who believe in literal demons possessing people and making them do things.

You really can't understand American politics without understanding the perverse worldview of evangelicals.

Yes. In iterated prisoners dilemmas you must have conditions where you defect otherwise you will lose forever. All the best strategies share traits we libs normally like anyway. Defecting is hard for lib oriented people, I think, but necessary.

I think we are fully locked into the revenge cycle now, whether or not dems participate. Better to end the cycle forcefully than try to opt out in order to avoid it.

It's a self-evident principle of government that official acts performed in service of a crime are null and void. Impeach, or simply ignore, any judge who disagrees.

In any case, my strongest opinion about the future is that we really should ignore every corrupt deal, pardon and other evasions that Trump tries to use to shield him and his co-conspirators. We should absolutely go scorched earth on that.

"This deal shields all the Trumps and their businesses not only from enforcement of any taxes they may have dodged, or enforcement of any fines or payments they may owe..." I'm unclear on what mechanism binds future admins to this deal.

linear TV was genuinely addictive because of the inability to watch what you want. Inconsistent but paced-out rewards the same as a skinner box. You got a big jackpot dopamine bonanza when your favorite Simpsons episode was randomly on syndication that day or came across an MST3k marathon
