New from me: Until recently, the gap between comfortably-off and just-getting-started could plausibly be crossed in a decade or two of hard work. Growth in asset prices means that’s no longer true: even a lifetime of striving doesn’t offer a realistic prospect of feeling you’ve “made it”.

I think it's important to actually read and listen to what people are saying to one another and about themselves. @sjshancoxli.liberalcurrents.com did that for the Prairieland activists, and while what they said they believed is understandable, it is just flat out a failing and failed strategy.

I guess what I find alarming about the million-dollar-coin-flip question is not that people get it wrong (that’s expected). It’s that it has a correct answer, which is the same for almost anyone - e.g., an answer a fiduciary would be expected to give - and people who know better won’t admit that.

This is, as @boodleoops.bsky.social said, bullshit; but I've always been fascinated by the massive lacuna in people's understanding of *why* it's bullshit. The feminist analysis isn't "men are better at elite sports than women." It's "elite sports are things that men are better at than women."
