When right-wingers say, "I don't care if you're gay, just don't rub it in my face," this is what they mean: second class status. You can't be open, much less celebrate your relationships. In exchange for silence, they'll leave you alone. (Except for occasional sodomy arrests.)

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

The Democratic Party's approval rating is in the toilet, and the main reason is voters see Dem leaders and prominent members acting like things are basically okay instead of fighting like there's an emergency. Slot "my friend Lindsey Graham, so funny, how great to work with him" comments into that.

California’s sanctuary laws mostly prohibit local law enforcement from assisting with immigration enforcement, but they allow county sheriffs to transfer detained immigrants to ICE custody in some cases. In San Diego, those transfers spiked last year.

Statements from Dems like this one make it harder to press for Supreme Court reform. This ruling was a near-disaster and shows how unhinged SCOTUS has become—now just one vote away from overturning the 14th Amendment. But a sitting senator says they "applaud" the ruling.

BREAKING: Rosen Applauds Supreme Court Decision Protecting Birthright Citizenship

WASHINGTON, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) issued a statement applauding the Supreme Court’s decision in the Trump vs. Barbara case, striking down Donald Trump’s unconstitutional attempt to take away citizenship from children born in the U.S.

“It has always been clear: a child born in the United States is an American citizen,” said Senator Rosen. “I applaud the Supreme Court’s decision today to defend the U.S. Constitution and honor the right to automatic citizenship for all U.S.-born children. Today’s decision also makes clear that Donald Trump is not above the law, and he cannot unilaterally take away anyone’s constitutional rights.”

Senator Rosen has led Congressional efforts to protect citizenship for children born in the U.S. In February, Senator Rosen led an amicus brief in Trump vs. Barbara, demanding the protection of birthright citizenship as guaranteed by the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. Last year, she led Senate colleagues in introducing the Born in the USA Act, which would effectively block the implementation of President Trump’s unconstitutional Executive Order attempting to end automatic citizenship for children born in the United States.

Sen Warren is right that the fight is not over - she at least recognizes that unlike the reactions we have seen from other Dem leaders. But, she fails to convey the urgency that four Republican operatives in #SCOTUS robes don't appear to believe in the 14th amendment.

Even Trump’s hand-picked Supreme Court knows that birthright citizenship is guaranteed by the Constitution. The fight to defend immigrant rights from Trump's cruelty is not over, but today the Court upheld the law. It's simple: if you're born in America, you're an American.

SCOTUS reform won't just simply happen if Dems take Congress & the White House. A case has to be made for it—to a skeptical public, to reluctant politicians, to a hostile media. The blowback from the right will be intense and terrify a lot of weak-willed pols. The case has to be made starting *now*

I'm not criticizing these responses to dunk on Dems. I'm saying that powerful people utterly misunderstand the moment and are missing a critical opportunity to make the case for SCOTUS reform. I even wonder whether they understand the need for it.

Across NY & MD, I'm counting 12 Democratic incumbents who lost (or, in one case, are trailing) to a challenger to their left. —2 congressmembers (both NY) —4 state senators (2 in NY, 2 in MD) —6 state house members (5 in NY, 1 in MD) A thread to break this down.

This piece is framed for a Connecticut audience but is about the dishonesty of claims about fraud in California, about what it augurs for November and about how the problem isn't the pace of vote-counting but about the attempt to gut democracy. Gift link: bit.ly/4urnQpB

Today is the first DVUSD board meeting since board member Kim Fisher performed a Nazi salute and twice said "heil." Public comment has just begun and is being limited to 30 minutes. Because of the amount of people signed up to speak, their usual 3-minute speaking time will be also be limited.

DVUSD board member Kim Fisher finally released a statement where she briefly mentions the Nazi salute saying “I am aware of some of the horrible things they did” but she’s mostly like I’M THE VICTIM I’M THE VICTIM and then claims that publishing her public office info (623-445-5002) is “doxxing.”

understand the symbol used is extremely offensive, but it is not at all what the District or the Teachers Union are pretending it was. I do not and have never supported the Nazi party and I am aware of the horrible things they did. For the people of the Jewish community or anyone who took offense to it, l am sorry. I should have come up with another way to inform the community about the dictatorship that is hurting our employees, community, and staff. I was trying to advocate for the working parents to attend the boundary meeting that affects their children. This is not the first time Carver has ignored parental concerns or made unilateral decisions without Board or Community input.

For the people who have asked what lead up to this; The situation did not start on Tuesday night. It has been going on for several years as parents, students, and community have had their rights violated and issues covered up should they dare to complain. Tuesday's last straw was finding out that Paul Carver Jr. and Superintendent Finch had scheduled a meeting for a Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. when most community members won't even be able to attend. As many found out, it was already done since they received a mailer about the meeting. Trying to advocate for the public wouldn't have mattered but we didn't know that on Tuesday either.

I have stayed quiet while trying to seeking legal advice as our family is afraid for our safety.

Every single time I mention on here that the Democratic party has not told its voters what it actually will DO if given power, there are ALWAYS people who lose their shit in my mentions. Then I ask them what the party has told them they will do? and it's either silence, platitudes or "oversight"
