How to make a horror setting, step one: The typical human reaction on coming into possession of absolute proof of the supernatural is not to spread it, but actually, to start a cult about it.
I've spent the better part of the last 12 years being told that Dark Souls II is this critically flawed, lesser game, only to see it be slowly redeemed. I was right when I reviewed it. I'm right now. For @aftermath.site: fuck the haters, Dark Souls II is (still) good. aftermath.site/dark-souls-i...
They Could Never Make Me Hate Dark Souls II
I have spent over a decade being told that Dark Souls II is bad. But history has vindicated the game, and I never let the haters win.

Hater week isn't over. I got one more in the quiver.
To the reader who enjoys Feast (or vice versa) I’d recommend: “As The Shore To The Tides, So Blood Calls To Blood” by @kjy1066.bsky.social “Godhead” by @gordonbwhite.bsky.social “In the Hills, the Cities” by Clive Barker & anyone who enjoyed Attack on Titan but felt like it didn’t land right
Reminding myself that a book is never expired, esp. less than a year after it came out: FEAST OF THE PALE LEVIATHAN is my debut novel, a DMT death trip through the digestive system of empire. It is a political horror adventure that makes Hobbes’ Leviathan a real kaiju + New Atlantis a real “utopia”
Feast of the Pale Leviathan
A man falls asleep on a river raft tube and drifts out to sea, where he is found and devoured by a titan of unbelievable size. But rather than death, what Owen finds inside is a community of fellow su...

EMPATHY - She looks at the recording device, the thing she thought would fill her hours with joy and escape. It's turning out to be an empty fantasy. She feels childish, very useless all of a sudden.
I am teaching a full-up 3-4 hour workshop on “Dreams, Ideas, Outlines” tomorrow for Mill Creek Library. I’m psyched and would *love* to teach more workshops and classes (especially closer to Seattle), but also always happy to share my slides and handouts. sno-isle.bibliocommons.com/v2/events/69...

Have you ever heard someone say that ideas are cheap? Well, that doesn’t mean they’re always easy to come by. It also doesn’t mean that every idea is good, useful or exciting for a story.\nIn this wor...

It’s called elevated horror, T. It’s when the dracula is actually that your family sucks.
Over the last week I read these two: FANTASTIC LAND by Mike Bockoven and NEFANDO by Mónica Ojeda. Both are polyphonic novels, made of interviews and other accounts, exploring the darkness and driving forces in people. But while FL is pretty ”fun” horror, N is *grueling.* Like, doomscrolling a book.
Hey Bluesky, could you help me signal boost my Big Cartel shop? A sale or two would be a massive help. Jeremy Creatures are designed and hand-sewed by me, and they take many hours to create. jeremycreature.bigcartel.com

PRO TIPS FROM ME, A LARGE INSECT 1. Do not be intimidated by the blank page 2. New notebook? Open to blank page 3. Write something meaningful on it 4. Now it is no longer blank 5. Go finish your novel
Every writer you admire once stared at a blank page feeling exactly how you feel right now. And they kept going.
