The fundraiser for the collection at the Maa Maat Centre in Tottenham is being organised by the *amazing* Selina Brown. Donations needed but also volunteer expertise in cataloguing, fundraising, building security, etc. #BookSky let's do this.

This will probably be me in 30 years. Broke with a million books im trying to rescue for future generations. But anyway, I'd be remiss if I didnt include the link: www.gofundme.com/f/save-1-mil...

A book is not a product like the shelf upon which it sits. Art is not a product like the frame in which it is displayed. If you think of stories or art like that sort of product, if you use AI to "create" it, you are not a storyteller. You are not an artist. This is not an opinion. It's a fact. 5/6

Here a compilation of stupid things library consultants have said to me in solidarity with library pals at Lambeth Libraries where genius consultants has decided that a qualified head of library service post isn't really essential.

Followers of WNBA news will be surprised to learn that Women’s and Gender Studies scholars have produced a body of work detailing how Black women in sports are understood by some as inherently non-female, in ways dating back to slavery.

"It is obvious that the Kennedy Center is being gutted. While everyone is being distracted by the drama of the removal of the name and the tarp cover-up, the interior is quietly being gutted and readied for some sort of renovation or just plain demolition." open.substack.com/pub/mbmatthe...

Gordon Lawrence, Suffolk in the 90s. Michael Bolton hair, reciting Jabberwocky from memory, prowling the room making kids jump. Later let me sleep through A-level seminars full of homophobes he clearly wanted to throw books at. Memorable, kind, and enthusiastic despite the system.

Who was YOUR great english teacher (if you had one)? For me it was Hugh Epstein at Richmond college (RUTC). I hope he's well, wherever he is!

The email from Amnesty International UK is even more gaslighting than their public statement… 😖 Including ‘gender critical’ transphobic tropes such as “rolling back women’s hard won rights” and treating trans people with “dignity”! F*ck them!!! 😖😣 Donation cancelled.

AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL
Dear Lead Activist
As you may well have seen, Amnesty International UK recently made a public apology for the publication of the briefing "A growing threat: the anti-rights movement in the UK". This document should never have been published, and full responsibility for this error rests with Amnesty International UK.The briefing was taken down shortly after publication, was not actively promoted, and will not be republished. We have an ongoing internal investigation into how this briefing came to be published. As part of this process, we have also withdrawn an earlier more discursive briefing, "Like a Snowball," which similarly referenced a wide range of organisations.
AIUK holds itself to the highest standards of research, evidence and editorial oversight in all its publications. We have concluded that this briefing does not meet those standards. We will commission an independent external review to learn from this moment to ensure our work meets the high standards expected of us and of the wider Amnesty movement.Amnesty International UK is deeply committed to our work on gender justice. We are committed to the rights of all women and all girls the world over who face multiple and increasing attempts to roll back their hard won rights. We are committed to the rights of all trans people, in the UK and globally, as their fundamental human rights, dignity and very existence comes under sustained attack.
Our commitment to the idea that all people should be safe from gender-based violence, oppression, discrimination and hatred remains emphatic and absolute.
It is my mission as CEO to defend the idea that rights belong equally to everyone, to build bridges and synergies in a world where divisions are becoming both deeper and more entrenched. We know that this will be disappointing, frustrating and upsetting for our supporters, members and activists and for this, too, we apologise without reservation. We know that you champion and represent the organisation, put your trust in its outputs, and rightly have high expectations of our research and our actions. We commit to listening, learning from our mistakes, and ensuring AIUK remains a fearless champion for human rights and universal equality.
Yours sincerely
Kerry

Concerns over fake phenomena cannot be held in good faith. There's no such thing as "good faith" concern over razorblades in Halloween apples or vaccines causing autism. If you still have 'concerns' about these issues you are uninformed, a bigot or being manipulated. No other option.

The only good-faith concerns about trans women in sports I’m willing to hear are: 1) Are trans women in sports doing an adequate warmup routine to avoid injury? 2) Are trans women in sports staying hydrated? 3) Are trans women in sports getting to wear cute outfits at practice and/or competition?

i don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice

After my parents were visiting set for the first time, I asked my dad what he thought. He said “I didnt realize, it’s like you’re building a house, and once an hour good looking people run in and put on a play for five minutes. Then they leave and you go back to construction.”

People think "Hollywood" is rich and famous. The reality? Film and TV is a national industry. It's a blue collar industry. And it is an industry free fall.
