Based on new information reported today, I again asked the Speaker to allow Parliamentarians to question the government about foreign interference and issues with the Alberta referendum. Once again, the Speaker has denied my request. 1/2

Doctors say that the measles outbreak in Pennsylvania is likely due to low rates of vaccination. A guy who snorts cocaine off toilet seats and drives around with dead bear cubs in his van says it’s caused by chemtrails. For busy Americans, it can be hard to know who to trust.

AI companies sold C suites and lazy assholes on the idea that they invented magic beans but now that the magic isn't happening they're telling everyone they're actually deadly beans and only they have the antidote for the deadly beans.

If you're anti AI & making claims that some of the models under the AI umbrella are ok because they seem to be serving scientific goals, then you fell for a type of hype. One from the 2010s; stats models aren't blessed by their use in science and they can erode our thinking. bsky.app/profile/oliv...

Another is: 2️⃣ "numerical point prediction is not something we can nor should expect" from our models at all! Something that I think is completely lost on so many people sadly, especially in modern artificial intelligence hype rhetoric. 5/

Second, numerical point prediction is not something
we can nor should expect. Sanbonmatsu et al. (2025), by
involving prediction without any caveats, constate that they
see models as fit-to-data models and not as cognitive models;
they have slipped into assuming that both are of the same
type. We can instead consider other forms of prediction —
often not labelled as such in a formal setting — as desiderata.
Numerical prediction is flimsy, theoretically inert, and often
contra building the very scientific understanding we wish to
nurture and support.
Qualitative prediction is a different beast altogether. An
informative example from the history of science is that the
tides were numerically predicted for centuries before we col-
lectively decided on a scientific explanation (Deacon, 2018;
Hughes, 2006). Namely that the Sun’s and Moon’s gravit-
ies cause tides. This latter understanding, as opposed to the
precision-based numerical one that only helped us decide
when the tides came in and out and by how much, is what
scientific understanding is about. Gravity causing tides is a
scientific explanation of the phenomenon, and it references
no numerical values (Cartwright, 1983).

America was told about Newsom. America was told about Platner. So you cannot keep setting down Jello with glass shards in it at the potluck and then accuse everybody else of ruining the party because nobody ate your food.

Not to be an alarmist, but alongside a war economy and a lead in unmanned warfare over us, Russia is willing to throw away hundreds of thousands of lives for nothing. Most European nations are not, and Putin knows it. We must increase our aid to Ukraine and improve our deterrence

it’s wild that the heritage foundation wrote in text that the assault on trans woman particularly in sports is their first step in their efforts to completely abolish all Title IX protections and liberals still don’t believe it’s about more than trans women in sports

Abdul El-Sayed: “Canadians are like the only people in the world who are going to preemptively apologize for something they didn't even do. So if you're starting a trade war with Canada, it's because you're the asshole.”

Despite being branded as autonomous and self-sustaining, artificial intelligence relies heavily on human labor — an army of data workers all over the world, primarily in the Global South. These workers “are purposely hidden by the companies that produce AI,” says sociologist Antonio Casilli.

Exploited Data Workers in the Global South Are “the Secret Ingredient of AI Itself”
