Been staying with my partner this week while my girls are with their dad (they have 2 weeks of the year with him, w me the rest). Spent yesterday and this morning tidying up the disaster in the basement. It was a ton of work but boy do I feel good about the result!

As if you couldn't hate AI more: super low-effort AI-generated spam. (Supported by Gmail, of course.) Yes, if you manage to parse out what is being said, the ever-wrong AI (don't say it hallucinates, it ERRORS) identified me as Gary Gygax the author of the MONSTER MANUAL.

I recently came across Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual, and I was very interested in learning more about the thinking and creative process behind the work. What particularly caught my attention was the way the Monster Manual transforms a collection of fantasy creatures into something much more than a reference work. Its descriptions, abilities, attacks, characteristics, and illustrations provide the foundations for an imaginative world in which monsters are not simply obstacles for players, but essential components of storytelling, exploration, atmosphere, and adventure. I was also fascinated by the book's role in establishing a shared vocabulary and framework for fantasy role-playing. The systematic approach to creatures and their abilities helped give Dungeon Masters and players a common language for constructing encounters and imagined worlds, while leaving considerable room for interpretation and creative invention. The Monster Manual also occupies an especially interesting place in the history of tabletop gaming. Its influence can be seen across role-playing games, fantasy literature, computer and video games, and the broader development of speculative world-building. The enduring fascination with its creatures suggests that the book's significance extends well beyond its original function as a gaming reference. I believe Advanced Dungeons & Dragons Monster Manual could appeal to readers interested in fantasy, tabletop gaming, game design, mythology, illustration, popular culture, and the history of imaginative world-building. I would be very interested in learning more about the development of the work, the creative thinking behind its approach to monsters and fantasy world-building, its place within the evolution of tabletop role-playing, and any current or forthcoming projects connected with this area. I finished my placement today (yay!) which means I just have a final questionnaire to fill out and I’m finished with my Biotech program! Annoyingly, graduation isn’t till next June. By that time I’ll already be finished my post-grad program 😂

My ex ruined multiple days that should have been celebratory, almost always days about “me” - my first Mother’s Day was spent in tears. I spent many birthdays sad and confused about why my boyfriend/husband was so angry. Fuck that shit. Never again.
