I learned this week that the New York Times was founded 175 years ago. There is a useful set of pieces floating around on this for journalism history buffs. But what struck me is that means the Times was founded 25 years *after* the black press which will celebrate its 200th birthday in a few months

You do not need to explain, to Queer or Black or Disabled people in America, that you can't always have a perfect thing. That is not news to us. You are not providing new information. It is the height of arrogance to assume that's not already part of our understanding of the world.
