So lets start the dive into #OTD for Some Like It Hot on the 4th August 1958 - the first official day of filming. This work order (preserved in the Margaret Herrick Library) is from MGM where Ashton Productions - Billy Wilder and Iz Diamond's company - had rented space on their famous Lot 2.

Very typewritten text dense document dated 4 August 1958. It lists crew call on Lot #2 the Eastside Street. Crew are divided into Sound, electricians, prop, fire, hospital, and police and lists how many of each are to be on set, the time they will arrive and other useful information.

The only taxidermied blue whale in the world, 1865 CE, now housed at the Natural History Museum in Sweden. The public was allowed to enter the whale up until a couple was found having sex inside it. Now the whale’s jaws are opened only for special occasions, such as Swedish election days.

So I think I've finally discovered the worst film ever made. It began yesterday at the bfi, listening to the excellent discussion between Sophie Hannah and Kazuo Ishiguro before a screening of Sidney Lumet's Murder on the Orient Express. They discussed the history of Agatha Christie adaptations.
