there's plenty of restaurants in this town, but the owner of the sandwich shop downtown hates me, says he's gonna kill me, and has a sign up on the wall saying that 5 cents out of every sandwich order will go towards buying bullets to shoot me with.
I don't think supporting a cause that is morally righteous grants one license to enagage in lazy, conspiratorial thinking or to traffic in age-old tropes about Jewish people puppeteering the politics of governments much wealthier and more powerful than them.

And not to go full Gollum about my book, but I do cackle when I think back to 2023 and how worried I was it might not be relevant soon. ADHD, trans people etc still very much the distraction targets for a pro-Brexit press and public still refusing to accept their role in fucking up the UK.

One of the things i always want people to understand is that binary thinking is always wrong. This kind of logic 'we can't stop [x] therefore give up' only works if you think 1 is the same as 2 because they're both 'numbers'. The more carbon we pump out, the worse things will get.

Now, it’s whoopsies, yes it’s real, but relax everyone & enjoy our new “Mediterranean” climate as Europe goes up in flames around us.
But it seems to me that most people, when it comes to food, begin with what they want to believe - my diet is right and ethical - and look for evidence to support it. I understand this: it's literally a visceral issue. But we have to try to get beyond what we want to believe, hard as that is.

I can hope that more people become aware of 'the secret life of toys', the book and jim henson tv special where toys are really alive when the kids aren't looking, yadayada, but with the caveat that if humans ever see the toys being alive the toys literally die.
