Drawing from the history of Renga linked poetry, there are certain verses that had certain functions (like the hokku, wakiku, ageku etc) but the verses without function, are called HIRAKU 'flat, ordinary' verses. These are verses where nature/humanity, reality/imagination mingle freely.

For a #haiku book to be best seller, it sells 50. niche grades on a curve.

Always good to think, contemporary haiku will crossover both its haikai cousins and other art forms. Little grey cells vibrating.

There are a few #haiku poets that write verses that would fall in the realm of #hiraku, though they prefer to refer to their verses as #haiku. I'd like to refer to my verses as #hiraku. just thinking....and talking to myself....
