Research Director and Research Professor at NUPI, ass. ed. EJIR. Comment here primarily as a private citizen. I do research on conceptual history, privateers and diplomacy etc. I like mountains, skiing and my woodfired pizza oven.

I don’t get why no one bothers to point out that micromanaging renovations of the reflecting pool aren’t even remotely the job of the president. Everyone seems to be cool that this is is primary policy focus.

nobody in British politics seems to want to say it but the single biggest driver of their inability to keep a prime minister for any length of time is that Brexit was stupid and ruinous and made everyone’s lives worse

Not for nothing but freedom of navigation has been a core US foreign policy objective for 200+ years and preserving the Arabian Gulf from domination has been one for just a hair under 50. When I say things like “calamity” or “inexcusable defeat”, I am not being partisan or exaggerating.

Our entire economy is being artificially propped up by astrology for men: AI, crypto, sports betting, and prediction markets. It's an economy shaped entirely by male insecurity and lack of impulse control, and we'll all pay the price.

Academia relies on good faith. It cannot be done otherwise. This is precisely why plagiarists, people who fake data, people who deliberately ignore counter-evidence, and fascists need to be driven out. Full cordon sanitaire against this crap.

absolutely wild to see people out here saying that it is responsibility of peer reviewers to check for hallucinated references. it is hard enough to persuade people to read articles and provide reviews. expecting them to spend hours cross reffing literature is unreal.

For the record: The Washington Post is run by partisan hacks who think we won't remember that they took the *exact* opposite stance when it was Republicans pushing their own gerrymandering grab in Texas last year -- *without* putting it up for a vote.

For the record: The Washington Post can go fuck itself. Support pro-democracy media that doesn't have its head stuck up Donald Trump's ass. bit.ly/4qmEiFz

Sorry to be overly sincere for a second, but here's why we decided to persevere through all of the bullshit and take over InfoWars. There's just gotta be a line somewhere. Thank you @pablo.show for letting me talk so openly about this.

I'm happy to announce something I have been so, so eager to share for a long time: "Leo Woodall has been cast as Halvard in ‘THE LORD OF THE RINGS: THE HUNT FOR GOLLUM’". It will be a tall order for Leo, but I believe he might just have it in him to bring the complexity of Halvard to the big screen.

The earliest one listed is "Pius XII and the Holocaust." Mind you, for a thousand years, Popes were actual political rulers, and for much of that time they were involved in the selection or deposing of some of the most powerful crowned heads of Europe. Then for sixty years...
