It’s horrible and bleak but it’s also grimly funny that, even as the press have decisively chosen to reimpose Labour vs the Tories as a more manageable system, the Tory leader is underlining that she is so disastrously stupid, she’s incapable of being normal and not embarrassing everybody involved.

What's that song that isn't Hey Jealousy by the Gin Blossoms?

Just occurred to me that I have heard literally nothing of the Plaid-led Welsh government since the election.
lol, it has Arrested Development on it, they chose Tennessee from the three massive hit singles from 3 Years 5 Months 2 Days.
YouTube Music has pushed a "one hit wonders of the 90s" playlist at me, and I'm really enjoying it, but it has Suzanne Vega, Take That, and Sinead O'Fuckingconnor on it.
Replacing the dumb speech recognition in my phone with an extremely smart LLM is working out spectacularly

The Rod Liddle biography suggests a certain post-1968 'type' who was just idiotically drawn to norm-breaching, moving via adolescent rebellion, punk, revolutionary socialism, and eventually ending up at racism, because by the 21st century that was the most efficient transgression still on offer
my jaw was on the floor. my ass was on the edge of my seat. my legs were akimbo. my nose was in a book. one foot was in the door and the other was in my mouth. my left hand was washing the right. my right hand didn't know what the other was doing. my ears were to the ground. and my eyes were up here
YouTube Music has decided I want to listen Teenage Riot by Sonic Youth every few hours, and tbh it's not wrong.
In Sweden you can pay the fire brigade to come along and fill your swimming pool.
The UK commentariat and political class are almost exclusively a wealthy, politically powerful and insular group, many of whom landowners/landlords, and almost every last one of them despises the working class, minorities, migrants, queer people, and disabled people. That’s why they love Rod Liddle
About once a decade the British government tries to reinvent Grammar Schools and you just have to wait it out
Like all great writers, it's a time to pay tribute to the words they left us with
BREAKING: Sunday Times and Sun columnist Rod Liddle has died aged 66 after a short illness
But I didn’t want Cadburys to taste like shite, that’s been imposed on me. Mondolez made $2.4 billion last year they could have swallowed some of the higher cocoa costs, but didn’t, and more importantly, now costs are lower, they won’t reinstate the quality will they?
I think my most genuinely unpopular take is that a widely held and genuine consumer preference for cheaper, lower-quality goods, not private equity, is driving the decline in quality of consumer goods like clothing and housewares.
Lot of people in this thread just remembering when their backs didn’t hurt
I feel sorry for people who didn't grow up with true boredom. The kind of rainy day in the 70s or 80s with only black & white films on TV, nothing to do on a hot Saturday, or empty time after a school day boredom. There was self discovery, reading, experimentation, play - and joy - in that boredom.
The UK is rushing towards food shortages. July had 8% expected rainfall. Our social care system is in pieces and hospitals are on their knees. What is Andy Burnham choosing to talk about today you might ask? Ahh, yes, he is choosing to continue the obsessive and deranged fixation on small boats.
the third detergent slot on the washing machine is for Monster Energy
How about being relentless in upholding human rights, or fighting against racism?
Burnham pledges to be 'relentless' in curbing small boat crossings
The PM says enforcement is being increased but there also need to be more safe routes into the UK.
