I am often asked “What, if push came to shove, is your favourite stile you have ever climbed over on a walk in the countryside?” and it’s always an easy question to answer, since there can only ever be one winner.

A stile in the middle of a field, surrounded by no fence of hedge, which, when you climb it, takes you to a nicer parallel dimension, containing no algorithms.

The Agapanthus or ‘African Lily’ is the ‘flower of love’, its name derived from Greek ‘agapē’ meaning love and ‘anthos’, flower. A piece of its root kept as an amulet is said to protect those who fear thunderstorms and to ward off thunder. #folklore

This stopped me in my tracks. An independent study by @qmul.bsky.social has found that after ULEZ was introduced, children’s lungs grew faster in Central London and have now caught up with children outside of the capital. Incredible.
