Cat person. Learning to garden, knit, and cook. Lover of 70s and 80s music. Been watching a lot of movies lately. Hater of COVID. Clean the friggin' air already!

What could change the time of the peak or extend the wave? 1 of the new variants taking off. We will hopefully get more info on the variant front in the weeks to come for now be very vigilant and stay safe watch of for any cough you hear it might be Covid. Good night!

Please, over the next few weeks, take extra precautions and avoid crowded events these rapid rises happening in some areas can infect a ton of people in a hurry. A few hours of fun in a packed indoor setting is NOT worth it. The US peak should be in early September.

Bedtime thought thread: Several sites on Wastewater Scan are going up super fast for Covid. Some, even after more data is filled in, are still going up very fast. If we see more wastewater sites rapidly rise, then the national level would too.

Please stop saying “lockdowns.” There were never true lockdowns in the US, and it fuels far right narratives to repeat this inaccurate statement. You can say closures, you can say restrictions, or better, you can say public health measures which saved many lives.

People still complain about “lockdowns” but we had none in the US. We had stay-at-home orders, where although businesses were closed, you could still go outside whenever you wanted. Other countries had far stricter rules, and yet have been much more accepting of them as they saved many more lives.

We should all learn to grow food. Anything, no matter how small. Parsley in a pot. Tomatoes. Growing healthy food locally is a part of the beautiful non-commercial civilization we will build to replace the current indefensible sh!tshow.

Yeah I’m having all kinds of feelings about the Fauci thing because while the right is obviously terrible, I don’t feel betrayed by them the way I did when Biden’s CDC and Chicago’s public health were happily flinging our kids back into superspreading schools with no vaccines and minimal mitigation

part of truly moving forward from this period will mean directly addressing disinformation & repairing its harm; one way i can imagine this taking shape is by addressing the very present & ongoing need for clean indoor air. this, unfortunately, would require a lot of ppl to eschew persistant denial.

I have friends dealing with chronic health issues from long covid, loved ones who lost family members to COVID, and immunocompromised friends who have to be very careful still to not get sick and die. Sorry if posting about COVID is annoying but it's not over and I wish people took it seriously.

Since we're talking COVID: Masks work, ivermectin does not. Vaccines massively protect you and help against long-term stuff, but you need to keep up with boosters. You need to keep masking; COVID isn't over because WE DIDN'T STOP THE TRANSMISSIONS in 2020-2021. Also many are still at high risk

There is quite a bit to grill and question Fauci on (poor messaging, not pushing masks more, other health stuff not tied to COVID)....COVID conspiracies are not one of those things. Millions dead and people in power are still pushing nonsense like lab leaks or it was the flu or whatever

Does anybody remember the Sears air conditioner ad where the man keeps putting off getting air conditioning? "Yesterday you said you'd call." "I'll call today." "You'll call now." Thinking about that as we hit the highest temperature this year.

My husband wanted to buy a beer at a county fair last night, so he found a Leinenkugels stand. He asked for a beer and tried to hand the lady cash. She said we don't take that here and told him he needed a beer card. He asked her where he could get one. She pointed to a massive line of people. 🫠
